Iruka did not believe in naruto since day one. The kid failed the ninja academy multiple times. And iruka initially treated him with the same disdain that the rest of the village did due to his misplaced feelings of anger because his parents died when the nine tails attacked the leaf. It wasn't until he saw narutos pain and how much he was suffering after being tricked into stealing the secret scroll that taught him the shadow clone jutsu that iruka came around and became narutos first actual supporter/mentor

It’s similar to the theme of Vinland Saga but I don’t think people talk badly about that show for that reason… it’s just a weird double standard. It’s refreshing to see in a show that violence really isn’t the answer (in fact, it’s the opposite)

Agreed, it's probably meant to be one of the Naruto's key traits, the ability to change people with words. From the very first Land of Waves arc where he changed Zabuza, then it was Gaara, then Chiyo in Shippuden, and it just goes on.

As someone who had a hard time making friends as a kid, watching Naruto sitting on the swing by himself always gets me. I know the thoughts all too well. "Why am I different? What did I do wrong? I want to play but I'll just ruin their fun and they'll hate me even more"
@BigPat65216 күн бұрын
I feel that. The biggest part that gets me is when Naruto and Sasuke had a chance to be friends at like 5 when Naruto sees him sitting alone at the lake. But Naruto was nervous and kept up the rivalry breaks me. It's the regret of not having the confidence and being too shy to talk to someone. I know that feeling of being scared and regrets of not taking action.

It's true. I was reading/watching Naruto as a kid and then a teen when it was still incomplete and I had to wait for the next chapters/episodes. While most of my peers liked Sasuke and thought he was cool, I always related to Naruto. I was practically the same as him when I was a kid - very lonely and alienated and trying to deal with it by pulling pranks and being a loudmouth. But all it brought me was mockery and bullying from other kids and the label of a "problem child" from the adults; which in turn gave me anger issues and resentment that were my real life equivalent of a fox demon inside. I am 30 now and I know that, stupid as it may sound, Naruto as a character was an important role model for me, when no real person was there for me to fill that role. And I am sure that I grew up to be a better and kinder person than I would have otherwise, thanks to this story and all the wisdom and heart that mr Kishimoto has put into it.

23:37 The monument he made there is not only for Jiraiya but also for Yahiko and Nagato, making it even better. Also, Kakashi was supposed to die but fans loved him so much in the early Naruto that he instead got a much bigger role in Shippuden. People often joke about Naruto talking to enemies changing their minds instead of just beating them up in good old Shounen fashion. But this is also why Naruto is my favorite anime. It is something we do in RL as well. In fact, every time in my life when someone wanted to attack me I would just talk them out of it. Words can achieve so much and its great to see it used in anime to resolve a conflict.

This was (is?) peak Naruto. Still after over a decade since release, this remains my favorite arc. The part gets most fans is the Iruka speech, by now we know about the Fourth Hokage’s sacrifice and how that backfired through the entire show. So to see our boy acknowledged as the hero of village, over 300 episodes and 16 years after his dad’s sacrifice, bringing it all back, it hits every time. That is why we also see Kakashi remember his first encounter with Naruto asking for the kid’s dream. He made it come true.

This was pretty much my own reaction to this part the first time I saw it. Naruto is my all-time favorite story. I was watching it at a time in my life when I was stagnant and depressed, out of shape and working a dead end job as a high school dropout. I had always been smart, but my ADHD meant I had poor social skills and the fact everyone seemed to instinctually dislike me meant I had severe social anxiety. I always wanted to be a scientist, and told people I was dropping out of high school to get a GED and eventually get a phd in physics. I really WANTED that, but at the time, I was just running away. A few years later, this anime comes out with a protagonist who was just like I was when I was a kid. He had similar experiences growing up. Being neurodivergent (ADHD or Autistic) really does feel like there's some secret reason everyone hates you that no one will tell you. But, like me, he was truly optimistic about people and genuinely just wanted their approval. I used to fantasize in grade school that bad guys would attack and I'd save everyone and then they'd all stop hating me. Naruto's story resonated with me SO much. I started thinking of my plans of getting a GED and going to college not as a dream but as a goal. I started dieting and exercising. I actually studied for SATs, something I'd never felt the need or had the patience for before. I wasn't exaggerating when I said I was intelligent. It was always the social aspect of school and my own boredom that held me back. So, when I got a good score on my SATs and got accepted to my state university, I packed up my meagre possessions in my old beat-up car and went for it. I majored in physics, and studied shotakan karate. I graduated Cum Laude and got into excellent physical condition. The whole time, my biggest motivation was Naruto. In my graduate work, I got to travel to national labs all over the world and participate in experiments that I never even dreamed existed when I was young. I now have a phd in physics and dedicate myself to being a mentor young people who struggle. I center kindness, empathy, and understanding in my life and while there were other motivations and catalysts along the way, the first and biggest was Naruto.

The emotional hights this show is able to produce are pretty much unmatched, ngl. Nagato is like a broken hero, with his incredible power one would think he might be able to make a positive change, even though he is trying to do it its not like he has risen above others and pushed for something incredible for the good of the world, he acted in a very human way which is ironic considering he calls himself a god, he failed in that regard, did not persevere and did not lead humanity out of the darkness :) Naruto here showed him greater strength :) its good that at least in the end Nagato got to do something truly good with his power and redeem himself :) honestly that silly old geezer toad is such a fraud xD Kakashi's father was finally able to move on that was beautiful :) Naruto achieved full victory here, got rewarded for his strength, proved that killing isnt always the best option :) finally Jiraiya got his resting place that was lovely :) Kakashi coming in putting Naruto on his back was perfect, just like in the OG days :) Naruto finally fulfilled his childhood dream, he got the respect and acknowledgement he craved for :) so this is like the end of the first half of the story, the end of a big chapter :)

Back when this was new and I was watching it, i had no one to talk to about it. It was deceptively deep and had a rich story. A story about the true path to actual peace, in anime, and in our world is simple. Vigilance/intelligent care, open communication, understanding and forgiveness. Basically love. Without it, the cycle never ends. Im a little revealed to see someone publically watch this and say things that not everyone understands and i was thinking about constantly when i was younger. Entertainment like Naruto, Frieren, Apothecary, and others have a huge impact on how we see the world, and if I ever have kids, i will introduce them slowly to these stories. Enrich their lives and and characters.

Man, those tears ran for minutes, I bet. The sadness and hope of the transition. You gotta love it. Kishimoto and his first editor really crafted a masterpiece with this arc.

Watching this again made me really reflect that Sakumo was really stuck in this state of grief and regret even after taking his life, for more than 16 years! I couldn't imagine being that way alone with your regrets for so long. And if not for Kakashi dying to save his comrades, he wouldn't have even met to free him of that grief. This was so good, my favorite show for sure!

I understand your situation. Believe me when I saw this episode I was smiling and my tears was not stopping. Truly this is a masterpiece.

It is not enough to KNOW Pain we must LEARN from Pain! Espescially the Pain of our own mistakes!

I had to subscribe... Your reaction makes me feel emotion for some scenes that I just glanced over when I read the manga. Watching you feel like I'm watching the show again..

How much crying do you need in one episode? Flexie: YES. (I cried along as well, even though I have rewatched this countless times😭)
