Worth for who? Very nice 850 is around 2000 euros. Even this is for free (and probably can not be put on title again,because it does not pass test and sitting years on junkyard), only the stupid heater core itself is pain to change. Next you need to solve : - timing belt -all fluids including AT -all brakes COMPLETE, calipers,lines -probably rust spots -front glass -starter -for sure some bearings, o-rings... Etc And you still have multicolor car with clear coat peeling...And molded interior as a bonus Its not 850R...its completely basic model.

@@jirka87 but it’s an old Volvo, it can’t be that hard to maintain one of these, and from what I hear this things have gone up in value in some countries, with a little love a cheap paint job I think it could make a great little car. And considering the list you have made it really doesn’t seem that bad, getting glass, a starter, and fluids doesn’t seem that bad, now I don’t know how much rust it has nor if it’s easy to fix suspension components and brakes, but I suspect it’s not impossible most things appear pretty accessible

I currently have a 1998 850, in absolutely great condition. Lovely car, I have fixed all the common issues (which was not expensive, because parts for these are dirt cheap at least where I live.) Runs great, has never let me down. Passes inspections like a breeze, never had any major problems with it after I took care of everything. I will try to keep it alive for as long as possible, I don't drive a whole lot so I reckon it should last me quite a considerable amount of time. :)

@tigerelectronics59666 ай бұрын
@@youknowmyhomie6552 :) you won't be dissapointed! The solder joints crack in the ABS module. You need to take it out and cut it open with a hacksaw, resolder them, and glue back together and it should solve the ABS light issue ^~^ ABS light won't pass inspection. The gauge cluster sometimes gets broken solders too, but easy enough to fix. Other than that, the only thing I can think of that often fails other than that is the rubber boots for the front drive axles. Easy to change with one of those openable boot kits. And of course, go over the brakes, change all rubber flex brake lines, all the usual. Give it oil change, filters, everything. They're lovely cars, unfortunately mine was in a accident so it's unfortunately no longer with me, but I honestly want one again!

not a common failure- cause is neglect. factory recommended service interval is 20k miles for trans drain and fill and recommend full flush every 100k. that was almost never adhered too by careless owners, and yet most of these cars that are still on the road are at 200k plus miles running strong.

We have had a year model 1997 Volvo v70 10 valve naturally aspirated car since v2006. Very durable and reliable and hardly feels the load. the only minus is high fuel consumption in the city. On the highway, it goes up to 7 liters if you don't press the gas pedal hard. When you change a part, it says Belgium, Sweden or Germany. we also have V.2006 model gas burner Bifuel Vovo v70. Really nice car as well, but I recently changed the water hose of the expansion tank that said made in Poland. It's nothing, but in the older Volvo, all the hoses are original since 1997. A small quality deviation, however. The Volvo lasts a really, really long time and is at its best in winter driving.

Heater core leaking is a common failure on 850s. Same as ABS light, which likely is a cold solder in the ABS control unit. Resoldering is definitely doable, theres lots of people who done it already. Btw, i apologize for nitpicking, but judging by the headlights and the interior switches, it's a 1994 model year. 91-93 had larger headlights. 95-97 had different interior switches. You can check the VIN for verification, the 10th number is the code for model year. N for 92, P for 93, R for 94, S for 95, T for 96 and V for 97. Edit: Just seen the bumpers. Those were 91-93 only, so someone converted either headlights to newer style or bumpers to older style. So might be a 92 after all, especially if these are 4-lug wheel bearings.

3:24 replace the thermostat in the airbox housing. This is the same for all NA 90s Volvos. It regulates a valve between hot air coming from the exhaust manifold and cold air coming from the grille. When this thermostat is broken, the valve is stuck at hot air from the exhaust manifold. A big power difference when the engine is warm. I've experienced Volvo specialists and Volvo dealers forget to replace this simple part. It needs to be replaced every so many years and often it never has been replaced...
