Flexiroam's global plan worked well for me for a while (and you can sign up to get discount notifications here: bit.ly/40NGMRM ), but overall it's too buggy to consider it one of my top choices.
Your best bet is to open each of those windows, then do a quick price comparison for the destination, trip length, and data amount you want.

Hey! I think it depends on how much data you need and the specific countries, because each company offers different packages for each country, so the right answer really depends on your unique situation! Another strong player in Asia is Nomad, which is worth comparing as well! One approach would be to try to find the best plan for every country you visit, even if it means switching from company to company. Another approach would be to choose whichever one looks best overall and stick with one. That’s what I’d probably do if I were you, even if it ends up costing slightly more. Because it saves the hassle of having to learn how multiple setup processes work. The last option if you don’t use much data is to get a global plan. Flexiroam is nice when they have a big sale, but their UI is really clunky in my opinion. Aíralos global plans are also competitive, although I haven’t tested the global plan personally. I am moving to the Philippines in Oct 2023. I currently use T-Mobile now in the US where I live. Do these ESims piggyback onto your regular carrier or replace it? I want to keep my US phone for occasional business reasons and just get another phone with Philippines phone number. Any thoughts or recommendations?

If you have dual esims you can have both lines active at the same time. That said, you’d have to double check if the Philippines plan comes with a phone number, because oftentimes it’s just a fat only plan. You may not need a phone number if everyone uses WhatsApp (and you can use Skype credits for the rare local calls), but if you will be living there, an actual phone number might come in handy.

I have a silly question. I am interested in the Flexiroam Global plan as we will be traveling to many countries and living on our sailboat. I am currently with ATT. My husband is still locked in to ATT. Can we use Flexiroam with a United States provider, or do we have to cancel our United States service to use Flexiroam.

Hey there! You should be able to use both services at the same time, but the phone needs to be unlocked. Sometimes it works if you call them and ask nicely! Also look into the Airalo global plan to see if it covers the countries you need. Flexiroam worked for me in several countries, but the whole setup felt a bit buggy to me and the UI isn’t great.

Any reviews for eSims for computers? Both of my computers run off sim cards so that I can work as long as there is a cell tower therefore I don't need wifi. Perhaps I'll try Flexiroam's physical sim cards as one of my computers won't accept eSims. Thanks for all you do!

@@ProjectUntethered Will do! I used a Vodefone physical SIM in Italy in both my computers and it worked great. I may need to upgrade my computers to ones that accept eSIM. I bought a Holafly eSIM for the trip before I realized my one computer wouldn't accept it. Sigh....

If I take the Flexiroam for Global usage, would it by default work in the USA as well? How do we find if a cell is compatible? You mentionned that you switch between esim card. Why would you do this ?

All very good questions. The US is included in the list of countries as well, so it automatically works there. Although if you’re living mainly in the US, I probably wouldn’t use this as my main data plan because it’d be cheaper to just buy a normal plan with US mobile, Visible, etc They have a list of compatible devices on the website, you should be able to find it if you just google flexiroam esim compatible devices. I forgot to mention it in the video, but your phone needs to be unlocked as well (if it’s not unlocked, you may be able to reach out to your provider and ask them to unlock it for you). The reason I switch between esims is I was using my global plan as kind of a “backup” plan. I bought 5 GB that is valid for a year. So whenever I go to a new place, I turn on the global plan until I get around to setting up a cheaper local plan (either a local carrier esim or an travel esim for just 1 country). This ends up being cheaper (usually) than just using the global plan for everything - especially if you use a lot of data like I do when I have to tether my laptop to my phone to work. I also use the global plan if I’m just on a quick trip for a couple days or long layover, and I can’t be bothered to buy and set up a whole new esim for my short stay. I hope that answers your questions!

Yup it’s for whatever length of time that the esim says. That’s why when I used a global plan in the past, I mostly used it as a backup plan. If I’m staying more than a couple days in a country, I’d buy a cheaper esim specifically for that country.

I’m sorry it didn’t work for you 😕 after testing several other esims, I’ve come to the conclusion that flexiroam has one of the clunkiest setup processes. And while it worked fine for me, I would recommend other easier to use companies going forward that I mention in the description, especially for first time travel eSIMs users. I hope you had a good cruise though!

Flexiroam's prices are a joke, it quoted me $270 for a 10GB 360 day eSIM. Airalo Discover 130 country eSIM 20GB 365 days was $70 which is a crazy good deal, comes out to $3.45/GB.

Yeah you definitely will want to wait until they have the 60-80% off sales, which seem to come every month or so. And Airalo is a great option as well if it covers all the countries you need.
