Great video Dave. Enjoyed it. Definitely horses for course though. I use the zero pump. but i take a Petzl bindi and use that as the tent light, just hang it from the tent apex. I find I need / use a head torch more than a tent lantern. I love multi functional kit but the multi light/ pump doesn’t work for me. I had the pump 2 but was always needing the extra light source so I sold it and got the zero when it was on kickstarter. It’s definitely a luxury item though! And if it fails I’ve still got a light source and my lungs. Thanks again and Happy Pumping! It’s Sprout season so an extra boost is available!

I've been looking at these, and I think they are quite heavy vs the pump sack as mention. A few days ago I saw this year's gear review by Justin Outdoors, and he mentioned the Pad-Pal, which is £40 a d weighs 9g. It requires an external power source, which isn't a problem as most who want the tech will carry a battery bank.
@johnnyolson25829 күн бұрын
Good luck finding a pad pal though they've been out of stock for ages. The alpenblow micro is a similar product though and the pump I think I'll be buying next
@RobertDavies-w1h29 күн бұрын
@johnnyolson258 I saw the alpenblow as an option and preferred the style of the padpal. I assume the creator is working on the next version. I'll see if he'll reply to an email.

I bought the Max Pump 3 about 2 weeks ago and I'm kind of getting antsy I watched your review and I think I made the right choice hahaha, fortunately it should arrive tomorrow so I can test it finally

Awesome stuff. I too would go for the Max pump 3 out of all these. Ingenius hack using the zero battery on the headlight!! Though I recently discovered this new pump that I think will eventually dominate the market. ATOMIC PUMP :2.19oz Pocket Size 3-in-1 Air Pump Only 2.19oz | 5kPa In/Deflate Pressure | 400L/min Flow | IP44Waterproof | 1500mAh Built-in Battery

The Max Pump 3 looks an absolute beast but I love the Tiny Pump.
@Fellmandave1Ай бұрын
You could have a tattoo with that on Robin! I've been watching your scarp ultra stuff, as have just bought the fly for my scarp. Wish I had bought the whole thing, to be honest, as I need an inner and a hoop pole before I can sell the silnylon one. Doh!

@WalkWithWallace Fair. I am in the ultra right now on a high moor. Cold but really still out. It's the carbon crossing poles I like the best. Light enough to bring every time.

Dave just one thing to point out with the Pump 3 the vacuum is as strong as the inflation so if you are into vacuum packing clothes for travel (not camping) or storage this works really well
@Fellmandave1Ай бұрын
@MrPurplepirate77 Excellent info. Thanks pp. But why not for camping? Too impractical? Flextail pump stuffsacs should be a thing?

Interesting review Dave. I'd like to see a comparison between the Zero and the revised Tiny Pump X. I was recently looking for a small, lightweight tent light and there wasn't much out there lighter than the tiny pump despite the fact that it's also a pump. It's considerably cheaper than the zero (I paid £14 in the black Friday sale), includes a light, internal battery rather than removable and to top it off it's lighter, 47g for the unit and the plastic attachments are also lighter vs the rubber. According to Flextail they are both 180L/min but the pump x produces 4kPa of pressure to the Zero's 2.5kPa. Struggling to see why anyone would chose the Zero other than size but as name suggests the tiny pump x is hardly massive.
@Fellmandave1Ай бұрын
Yes, it's a really good point. The pump X is one that bypassed me. Flextail publicised the zero and the pump 3 significantly more, I guess. £14 is a bargain, too! I do like the rubber seals, though, they tend to stay on much better. Cheers and great comment.
@billtbodgerАй бұрын
I have to be honest I got the Flextail Max3 for under £30 and am impressed with it, you did miss another trick it has with the tripod mount so you can use it as a more versatile lantern around the camp it does mean the harshness is less noticable as it can point more downwards while being lower than eye level so it illuminates without blinding, overall a pretty good summary of the 3 pumps though
@Fellmandave1Ай бұрын
Ah , yes, forgot about that. Good point Bill.
