I would buy any horse this man started. How a horse is started sets their foundation and attitude for their entire life. Once it's in there we can always come back to this foundation for training and or correcting problems created in the horse by humans. Horseman like Henson are pretty hard to find. Please just let us keep watching him and learning. No clinics please, just let us watch and learn. He's getting much better at communicating what he's doing too.

Glued watching this session. Henson reads the horse so well and keeps in total control. Can't wait for the next one. How Henson works with such calm and patience it is fun to watch :) I was expecting her to blow up a couple times there, but Henson rode her out of it like nothing too it .. Fine horsemanship there. Enjoyed! PDR! #1 🐎🤎

My friend Flicka, not so much today. You go Henson. I could tell by her tail she was going to be a horse today. She is like reading a book. Unfortunately, Henson wrote the book.
@jeannettegiles5869 Жыл бұрын
She said “I learned it on the left side, no need to do the other,”. She picked up the right lead nicely. Henson is so quiet and he eased her on around. Taking her back to her comfort side and then back to the right. Next ride she will come back strong maybe a little reminder, operative word here is “she”. Mares learn quick but are not always receptive for change. Good job Henson sure so enjoy watching you ride. Glad you put a mic on him Danielle💕🎄💕

Wife..... She's a little ornery still. But I know Henson will work that nonsense out of her. There was a couple of times I thought she might break in to, but actually she just kinda crow hopped, with a slight kick out. I got a tad bit nervous for Henson a few times (knowing he could handle her with no problem) but it's like Danielle said, she's not like breaking a Monster Colt. Flicka has some attitude and a bit more sassy about her. Maybe stubborn is a better word, not sure. She kinda thru her head up and swishing that tail, she was annoyed. But Henson just kept on working those circles..... I really enjoyed watching this video 😃 Can't wait to see her next ride, I hope you can video it also. Great job 👍 Henson, I know she'll come around. Blessings to all at the PDR 🙌 Jennifer

I’m just curious as to how many rides she has had? From the past videos I was waiting for that rodeo.😂 When y’all first put her on the channel and she was so sassy, my moms name came to mind. She was a spicy/sassy Czech woman named Mildred.(everyone called her Millie) Made me laugh. That last little crow hop at the end. She’s smart and Henson will turn her into a great horse I have no doubt. She’s definitely in the right hands. How’s Czar? We’ve been praying for him. Even if you would never be able to ride him he would be a great stud. But that’s not the case… he’s going to be fine. ✝️🙏🏼❤️🎄

Considering how spicy she was earlier in training.... She actually is less naughty than my mare was getting her to Canter. Only real time she was showing attitude :). In the end we took her to the lunge ring and i reinforced my friend who was riding her. So he would try to work her into a immediate canter and if she wouldn't i would come in with the lunge whip. It worked. Forcing her to do it in the arena was just causing her anxiety and making her strung up about going in the arena. Sometimes you just have to backtrack and go around a different way to get to the same place.

Henson absolutely knew there probably would be a variety of negative reactions Flicka would have work through during his first few rides on her. That’s why he used the methods he did to prevent her from being more reactive during this stage of training and to start her thinking process. He did a wonderful job. 🎉
@67charged Жыл бұрын
@@carolevandermissen8407 well my comment was more tongue in cheek than serious. Because I definitely knew how this filly may react and I know or at least believe that Henson is more than qualified to be working this filly and fully aware of what her reactions could be, therefore the squish the hat comment. Calm down, there is no need to defend the gentleman. I agree totally with his capabilities and his training regimen. Maybe people need to start relaxing and not so quickly to be negative. God bless and Merry Christmas

The one thing I don't like is spurring the shit out of her. I don't use spurs until the horse understands Que's they are a tool for refining not teaching. Plus you get them dull to the spur when you kick them 1000 times in 30 min. No, I don't think you are way too hard with them nor do I have a spur problem. I just don't use them at this stage, that is not what they are for anymore, your boots should be plenty at this stage. Spurs are for refinement, I have noticed even on your trained horses you have to be very loud with your feet, that might be why. This is just my observation. yes, I think you are a great horsemen but we all can learn and do better. Look when you first start a horse you have to be loud with your feet, so that is not the right time for spurs that should come much later in training. Spurs should be a tool to let you be very light with touch and a clean signal, after the horse understands the que's. This IMHO
@PaintedDesertRanch2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. There is a reason Henson rides with spurs the way he does. Maybe you should ask him why one day.
@titanbuck7 Жыл бұрын
If you taught that horse a one rein stop and them kiss and ask him to move forward while ya king his nose around you are accomplishing in the negative direction ruining your one rein stop and having to create more excitement than necessary in order to over ride the whoa you already installed. Sigh. If you want to risk your health, keep training this way. Try making sure this horse knows voice commands and what giving to pressure means, including pressure on the sides. Personally, this is why I ground drive first so the horse knows left, right, whoa and go before even getting on.
