The savage part about Sherlock Holmes is that, despite all the hard-work and near death experience her sister gone through to investigate and get all the facts about marquess case and her mother intention. Sherlock did that for both case by just reading newspaper, deduce two clues from his mother room, 1 interview and even give the "shark" tips to Enola that help her solve the marquess case.
@tana4tune63 жыл бұрын

I felt they suggested that Sherlock has yet to start working with Dr Watson, for example when Enola states she works with Sherlock it is stated that Sherlock doesn't work with anybody, this may be due to this movie being set earlyish in his career, I haven't read the books so I am not sure at what point the good Dr shows up but it would be interesting to see as with the BBC Sherlock, a watson that can take on all the holmes' all three of them.

I'm definitely hopeful that Mycroft will get a redemption arc in future installments. It was a great touch throughout the novels - along with watching Sherlock himself come to respect Enola and what she's capable of. I kind of feel like they rushed Sherlock's turnaround on the subject, since at the beginning he is somewhat sympathetic toward Enola and how she and Mycroft clash so violently (which only gets worse as the film progresses) but ultimately dismisses the possibility of him standing up to Mycroft. But then after a couple of conversations with Edith and Enola, he changes his tune? This is a turnaround that spanned the entire book series, it took time for Sherlock to look past his own prejudice and complacency. Still, I'm keeping an open mind. If they can build on Enola and Sherlock's relationship in a believable way, I'm all for it.

I liked the movie as a movie, though it was quite predictable, but as an Enola Holmes adaptation it felt like it was missing the sprit of the original books. Regardless I would recommend this movie as the cinematography and the the acting were great. And if you have never read the books or are not really bothered with inaccuracies from the original version, you are going to like it. If there are any sequels I hope that the writers are would be better able to capture and show the sprit of Enola Holmes through them.

Fact: Sherlock stated on multiple occasions in the books that Mycroft possessed superior deductive skills to his own. That Mycroft merely lacked the energy to follow through on deductions but was overall better a better detective, something neither Sherlock nor Mycroft really cared for since jealousy was not in their nature. The way the movie depicts Mycroft has absolutely nothing in common with the book and is not just a loose interpretation. It's simply a different character.

the way it works now, the sequel will either recap- or retcon any of the details that apply to the ongoing plotline.

I truly enjoyed the film having watched it with my two Granddaughters, aged 10 & 6. It was adventurous and fun, we have now ordered the book set for them to read.

The early Sherlock idea works in this & no Watson yet gives room for more crossovers with his sister. They work well together, but she does with the newer characters this introduces. Was bit annoyed about her Mom, such a fan HBC, but its only because I'll miss the character. Would like a series over movie.
