I personally cringe hardest when some special snowflake feels the need to give a lengthy generic thank-you speech on behalf of all the fans and then leave, while there is a line of fans waiting behind him/her with *actual* questions prepared. How about showing appreciation by clapping and cheering loudly at the end like *all* the others and not wasting Q&A time?

The books are a masterpiece, and I completely understand why it is hard for the producers to get everything in without adding flashbacks and voiceovers, which would ruin the feeling of the living and breathing world of Westeros. I agree with Martin's remarks on how the added scenes were brilliant, and the way they truly gave us some points of view that would be hard to get from the books because of the way they are written. Watching the show with a grain of sweet sweet salt is what does it for me, because I get that omitting content in adaptations is inevitable but nothing to worry about, since the original story is right there in the pages, and I love it.

***** the problem isnt that they dont fit every chapter form the books into the show but that they could fit in a ot more if they didnt spend most of the show making up completely new scenes,especially key changing points in a charcteer story like when corin halfhand teaches john about leadership
@TheGmdMaster10 жыл бұрын
banethesithari I see what you mean about important moments like that, but adapting the book to tv means people will struggle with the huge amount of characters on the show so introducing a character such as Ygritte in detail with longer scenes instead of an extended scene with Qhorin is prioritized
@banethesithari10 жыл бұрын
***** all it would of taken was an extra episode with qhorin which could of taken about 5 minutes. this conversation is a huge factor in the decisions jon makes later on. all he goes on about in the show is honor but that wont make sense with the decision he's going to make. it's just like what happened with tryion when they took out the tysha sub plot tryions decision to (seaons 4 spoilers) kill tywin made little sense and was out of character.

craig was a terrible choice for moderator. he is treating this like 90% of the audience hasn't already seen a few of these panels before (either in person or online). we are 5 years into the show... don't do this.
@profilenamehello10 жыл бұрын
If the audience didn't act like 5 year olds who can barely string a sentence together, maybe he wouldn't have to talk down to them. But considering the majority of questions were things that GRRM and the cast obviously couldn't talk about and the audience KNEW that going into the Q/A and the rest of the questions weren't even questions at all ("I just wanna thank you guys so much"...really, you wasted time and stood in line for something so inane?) These audience members were almost 100% wasting the cast members time with their questions and Craig did the best he could to twist their questions into something worthwhile that the cast could actually respond to.

Sorry to be negative, but I find Craig Ferguson seems to have an affinity for mocking half of the people who ask questions. Embarrassing the fans in-front of their favourite actors/writers isn't cool, man.
@OMamifero9 жыл бұрын
I agree. At times he was funny, but he was most definitely rude to most, not taking the fact that public speaking for many is a terrifying experience, but many went along with it anyways for a chance to talk to their idols. A bit disrespectful, but he probably meant for it to be light hearted.
@Defrag9 жыл бұрын
SamAlexHuntley yeah, it got old after a while, wasn't much need for it constantly, to break the ice initially perhaps, but throughout was OTT. Also interrupting the cast and writers mid-talking all too often to crack a joke, bit annoying!
@drprofcapt9 жыл бұрын
SamAlexHuntley I think he's just feeling the room. People were soliciting groans from the audience and making everyone feel uncomfortable. By making, in my opinion, fairly light hearted jabs at the expense of these people, he's at least bringing the mood back up and soliciting a laugh. And Craig's really the only person there who can do so. You think it's embarrassing being made fun of in front of your favourite actors/ writers, but imagine if those comments came FROM someone you idolized.

I hate when people involved in shows/movies/whatever answer fan questions with demeaning answers. For example, George's response to the questions about religions and Dan and David's response to the Lady Stoneheart question. I get that they've become jaded after countless interviews, but they need to take a moment to consider their situation. They get paid very well to do a job that they love, which is much more than can be said for the majority of human beings. The only reason they are in such a great situation is because of their fans. They should therefore show nothing but kindness and respect to them.
@paulmcg710 жыл бұрын
I thought Georges answer about the religions and not choosing one over the rest was justified. Questions asked were ridiculous mostly and someone should have reviewed them before they got to the microphone.
@sqweebel110 жыл бұрын
Paul McGrath Ya I gotta agree with you there, a lot of the questions were stupid, but still, I expect more from the creators. And I think you're spot on with your last point, there really should have been some kind of screening process for those questions. All in all, badly organized.

"If the Bible thumpers stopped thumping the Bible for a minute and read it, they would find there is just as much incest in there." This is so true. If the entire Bible were to be put onto screen, we would see everything if not more than what we see on GoT. Imagine a scene(s) where Lot's daughters get him black-out drunk and rape him (two nights in a row, each daughter getting her own turn). More cringe worthy than anything with Jaime & Cersei...

What on earth was that excuse about why the Tyrion/Jaime scene was changed? They already DID a long dialogue scene where they explained Tysha. They brought her up various times throughout the series so that makes no sense.
@BioMatic210 жыл бұрын
yes in season one!...they said it really well, that big deal about Tysha is not from that scene but from the pages and pages of Tyrion thoughts wich the show had none of it.
@RavenStillBeguiling10 жыл бұрын
BioMatic2 You mean to tell me they could spend 10 minutes on a beetle story but couldn't take that time to talk about Tysha again? All the other scenes that should have been omitted this season alone could have been used to build towards that again. That Tyrion kills Tywin for saying the name "whore" not only does not carry the same emotional weight without Tysha but it doesn't make a lick of sense. Shae WAS a whore. Tysha was not, that is the whole point.
@BioMatic210 жыл бұрын
RavenStillBeguiling i think that is a matter of perspective. I think that Shae from the show and Shae from the books are different. Shae from the books is totally a whore and Shae from the show really loved Tyrion. I think 10 minutes after 2 seasosn of almost nothing wouldnt do justice to Tysha. If you separete for a moment the show from the books it makes sense.
@RavenStillBeguiling10 жыл бұрын
BioMatic2 Shae loving Tyrion on the show doesn't change the fact that she was a prostitute. If they were going to omit Tysha then they should have altered the dialogue in the Tyrion/Tywin scene as well. That "whore" comment that makes Tyrion pull that trigger makes sense in relation to Tysha not Shae. That's why I can't separate the two in this regard. We saw this with Shae as well. They changed her characterization but not her actions. The Shae that we knew on the show testifying in trial and throwing Sansa under the bus doesn't fit. The Shae that we knew on the show sleeping with Tywin doesn't fit. To quote GRRM, there's a butterfly effect. You change one thing and you risk everything else changing too. They want to keep those "omg wtf" moments but they're not making sure that those moments are true to what they're writing.

I think the best moderators are the ones that just moderate and let the cast do their work and let them work their chemistry- the ones who did the Arrow panels, or even Geoff Johns for the DC one, are good examples. This one feels the need to steal the show, I feel, and the cast can't really work together and answer questions properly because of it.
@torrhenstark587610 жыл бұрын
And, from many of the cast's faces, they don't seem overly impressed either. Otherwise great.
@torrhenstark587610 жыл бұрын
corzarguy I certainly think that they need to contribute and help out, but the cast are the main people here- all of those people in the audience didn't pay and line up for hours to come and listen to the moderator talk, they came to listen to the cast. I think the GOT cast has enough chemistry and the questions were good enough they could have kept the panel alive without all the extraneous 'help.'
@benrujo10 жыл бұрын
I don't know if he needed to steal the show but I think he felt it would be remiss of him not to address the inappropriate questions and discourage them in the future. He also circumvented additional questions that were in the same vein by giving the audience food for thought. The only problem is that it created an 'us vs. them' mentality between the panelists and the fans that you can see the actors were uncomfortable with.
