I learned the accident from the tv show, Mayday, but Mentour Pilot helped fill a lot of gaps. From what I read in the comments section, he did a better job explaining what happened than the government of Kenya did. Apparently, the government wrote it off as being caused by bad weather.

The unprofessionalism of that old man ruined the future of that young pilot and everyone on-board that flight. So sad how our systems take such matters lightly. Those lives couldn't have been lost if our systems were careful about who is handling a delicate equipment such as an aircraft.

I lost a friend in this accident.I later made my own conclusion the age gap between the captain and the first officer should be narrowed to avoid this argument of superiority on the cockpit and on this case it really went bad

That’s happened before in previous accidents where age gaps have made first officers reluctant to speak up until it was too late which is why CRM has to be taken seriously. What also contributed was Kenya Airways decision to pair an overbearing captain with an unassertive first officer. I was really shocked when I learned that the flight before the fatal flight, the captain greatly mistreated the first officer. Investigators said there were words like “stupid”, “shut up”, and other unprofessional phrases. I think the first officer could’ve saved the plane, but waited too late due to the captain’s mistreatment.

If you plan to be that, you need to be assertive and willing to speak up and keep an eye out for errors. One of the notes from the instructors of this First Officer was he needed to be more proactive in calling out deviations.

Better crew resource management is all that was needed to avert this accident.. the captain was also very indiscipline, went rogue and refused to follow the laid out take off in bad weather protocols. He was seemingly too harsh and reprimanding to his FO which led to an imbalance in the cockpit which is very dangerous since in the cockpit, the captain and FO should be at the same level irrespective of seniority or experience. The captain then proceeded to make a series of mistakes but the FO while being aware the captain was making mistakes, could not intervene or correct him for fear of being lashed out at, insulted and reprimanded again.. until it was too late!! Too sad he died because of fear and someone else's ego, stupidity and mistakes... RIP to all the passengers and crew of KQ 507 🙏🙏

A gap inside the plane structure is explained by the conversation between the first officer but negligence cannot be overheard because the first officer responded at arms with his captain the right thing is to discredit the voice of the first officer and actually the captain doesn't leave the runway without being issued the green light to taxi away but he is heard repremanding the first officer what sort of communication is that maybe the control tower was not getting the reception right probably the excuse is that the first officer was paying attention to what the captain was ignoring which led the tussle between them but he first communicated and then the captain shut him off???

One cannot rule out that the main pilot was drunk beyond repair or high on some drug. Because his actions make no sense. Don't bother to double check weather; even though the weather report u have been given does not match the storm. Take off without clearance. Throwing tantrums to first officer. Forgetting to put on autopilot. Then put on autopilot. Then over-ride autopilot.

Pilots are much used to autopilot i guess .its great,it saves much but this makes them so much in comfort zone.When nature happens,they get confused.its becomes almost impossible for them to correct a situation manually.I have been watching this investigations and most of them,once the autopilot is messed up,they rarely make it alive.

Flight 507 was featured on the Smithsonian Channel a couple years ago on 'Air Disasters' and it christened "the silent turn - no one in control" It was so embarrassing when you see how dumbfounded the characters look in the reenactment. They found out captain Wamwea was a below average pilot who shouldn't been anywhere near aircraft, flight controls and or flying for that matter but he was a 'captain' in Kenya airways... one can only deduce nepotism, tribal privilege, and 'kikuyu quick money mindset' corruption.
