Saying that can come across as prejudice too. It’s no better then me saying white is beautiful. It’s still separating us. It’s still prejudice. There is no “right” way to say much. Let this be a lesson to other Mirandas out there. Never judge a book by the cover. Just because of the COLOUR of Ava's skin, she was judged as not being suitable to have a seat in first class. Miranda's actions should be an example to all who deals people in every capacity. Treat all in the way YOU want to be treated. This story is a very interesting, and thought provoking. I am a white woman who lives in Tucson, Arizona, USA, and it brought to mind the instances I have seen on police videos where a non-white driver of a fancy car was pulled over. I was sure if they had been white, they would not be treated that way unless a traffic law had been violated. To be pulled over based on one's skin color should have ended centuries ago, but sadly, stil exists. I am glad Eva's actions produced a noticeable change in how all passengers are now treated with respect, and the airline involved is held accountable.

An amazing tale. I’ve had a sense of Air NZ staff being far more personable in a flight situation days ago. There is always room for improvement, and self improvement before judgement of others and their biases. We must look to our own to be the change we want to see. I experienced firsthand discrimination as an Asian woman in a dental class of 96 students, where only three were people of color. Coming from a foreign country and speaking with a strong accent made it even harder. Despite these challenges, I consistently ranked in the top ten students every year and was ranked 2nd in my class in the year when I applied for orthodontic residency. Still, the dean asked me to go to his office and told me I wasn’t ‘perfect enough’ to apply for an orthodontic residency. Knowing he could crush my aspirations. I stayed quiet. Then, a miracle happened-the dean stepped down the year I applied. A professor who taught us stepped up as the interim dean who recognized my potential and wrote me a strong recommendation letter. That turning point made all the difference, and today, I’m a successful orthodontist. I often wonder how different things might have been if that dean hadn’t stepped down. I had no high up connections, but I feel the power comes from the above.

I have read so many stories of black people being harassed, belittled and mal treated including slapping them , pouring coffee on them and tearing their clothes while flying first class on airplanes. In 2003 I took a transatlantic flight and because I am tall, I asked for another seat with more leg room if possible. I was bumped to first class and NO ONE bothered me. Ironically, in 2024, when things should be better, black people are still discriminated upon while sitting in First class.

Teach the children what black people had to go through in the early years of United States culture.. Too bad prejudice is still everywhere!! Im from the Navajo Nation but live in one of the nearby cities off the reservation in New Mexico. The counties these cities are in are some of the biggest oil producers in the state. But, because there's Native Americans that live and visit these places daily, gas is purposefully kept at a higher price. Its already been studied and been in the newspapers and media but nothing has ever been done about it. It can range anywhere from forty cents($ .40) to seventy-five cents($ .75) higher than surrounding areas... sometimes more... its actually very Embarrassing!!! 🙄🙄😠😤

They offered me £50 voucher, and I turned it down because change needs to come from the top. Miranda thought her color meant something! And that job she had been on for years could be gone overnight! It doesn't pay to be evil and racially profile! I would have personally dealt with that case until Miranda was terminated and the airline is sued! There will be no way, that any of us should ever allow this behavior. They mentioned it was a FIRST CLASS Ticket (This is Even Double the price than Business Class) FIRST CLASS Ticket costs multiplied 4 to 5 times more than Economy Class Ticket.. This is truly a disgrace situation that happened.🥹
