@HANNAH, yes, in Victorian times, houses had parlors that were used for viewings/wakes before the body was taken to the cemetery. It was a very formal room that could be shut off from other parts of the house. Starting around the 1920's, you hear of livfing rooms as opposed to parlors. That's because it was noow more practical/acceptable to take the body to a separate location.

Hi! Hannah! Yes I am familiar with older homes that used one room for funerals. They used to call that room the parlor(before many funeral parlors were built) so when our societies evolved to have funeral parlors outside the home thats when we began calling that room the LIVING ROOM! Isnt that neat! So thats why you have 2 doors going into that room.one door is near an exit door where they brought the caskets in and out of the house. We used to live in an old house too, built in 1900 so we had the same set up!

I have heard of a funeral room -- maybe being from the south (Georgia - hey, neighbor!) helps too. I believe the purpose was to have a place for the body to lay in repose for viewing. Hi Lori!!! I was surprised that this was my first time hearing of a funeral room but it really is fascinating. It felt a little weird at first😂 but our home is so cozy and feels happy🥰 Mavy says hi!!!🐶 And thank you so much- I’m lovingggg the haircut!! My stylist did an amazing job!

The hair is gorgeous. It totally makes your blue eyes "pop". I laughed when the caudile exploded, and that brand is expensive too... I picked up two leanovers this month. I don't normally do them either. But going to ILM & OAJ . Short flights and hopefully I will be able to get more than 3 hrs of sleep 😴... happy profit sharing day 🎉

Yes it's true. They would put the body of thier family members into the funeral room and that's where the friends and family would come to view the body. Also after a couple days or so they would have the funeral inside the home. My grandmother had a funeral room in her house
