The Innova Cobra is amongst the oldest Innova Discs still in production. Originally designed as a “multi-purpose” disc, the Cobra was created to cover shots from the tee to the fairway, even when those distances begin to stretch.
With its slightly bladed nose, slim profile, and large diameter the [4|5|-2|2] Cobra works exceptionally well for players who find traditional mid-ranges overly bulky. Its almost driver-like shape fits well in any size hand while that large diameter retains that midrange glide you’d expect.
The Cobra’s [4] speed rating results in a disc that doesn’t take much muscle to power up compared to how effortlessly its [5] glide keeps it soaring through the air. The versatility of the Cobra becomes evident when looking at the off-setting [-2] turn and [+2] fade which gives this disc the ability to fly on, and hold, many different lines.
New players benefit from the Cobra’s straight, mellow flight as they can tone down the brute force and focus on proper release angle, while more experienced players love the ease-of-use and multitude of flights the Cobra can achieve.

Played an Ice Bowl here in IL after a blizzard about a decade ago. The predictable flight of my 3 Cobras of varying age kept me straight on the snow plowed fairways. I placed in AM because of a lost disc penalty. Thanks Cobras👊🏼

Can someone from Innova explain why the King Cobra and VCobra are both listed on the Innova website as PDGA Approved discs, when they are not? They simply list the PDGA Approval date of this original Cobra which was 1/1/88.

A better question is why disc molds can be changed without reapproval as long as the name stays the same.

@@BaysingersDiscGolfChannel The question should be to the PDGA, though, not Innova. What falls under which approval is completely opaque. Ex: the Buzzz mold was changed less than a year after approval, but all Buzzzes fall under the original approval. On the other hand, Innova has two separate approvals for different revisions of the Jay less than two months apart. The real answer is probably simple grandfathering. Back when no one really cared, as soon as something was approved, you could do anything to the mold as long as the name stayed the same. The Roc approval from 1987 covers at least four distinct molds. My guess would be that if it's good by the letter of the law at the time of approval, it's good now. It would be easy for the PDGA to come out and explain, but that would require some level of professionalism, which they've repeatedly shown is not a trait of their organization.

@@trev3971 I understand what you are saying, but the PDGA isn't selling the VCobra, King Cobra, Roc+ and all the other molds that are listed as "PDGA approved" on Innova's website. Innova is. The PDGA could care less if you are throwing these molds during casual rounds, but I bet they would have something to say about them being thrown during sanctioned rounds as they don't have their own official approval date. If the PDGA didn't care, there wouldn't be 3 different Discmania DD3's with their own approval numbers. That's why my question is more pointed towards Innova than the PDGA. Were these molds even sent in to the PDGA for approval or did Innova try to skip the $300 approval fee and just list them as "PDGA approved" anyway?

@@BaysingersDiscGolfChannel I don't think there's anything sketchy happening on the Innova side (or Discraft with the Buzzzes, etc). I think the approval process is both totally opaque *and* full of vagaries, and the PDGA has no interest in addressing either issue.
