Flew HB-POF in 1995 for a total of 9h as part of my flight training. Amazing that it is still in service!

I was amazed that my old flying club in Canada still had many of the Cessna 152's that I learnt to fly in back in the 1980's. And even then these were not new airplanes at the time. It is a testament to the design of these old birds and the mechanics who maintain them that they are able to keep flying for such lengthy periods of time. Perhaps it is also a bit depressing that the market for small aircraft is so small and the burden to certify new designs so high that progress in GA is so slow.

Schönes video. Nur leider ist die Kamera zu hoch. Haste nicht ne andere position um mehr von der landschaft zu sehen und nicht nur das Dach und Sonnenblende.

Geoffrey, thanks for sharing! I was in the office that day, the "loud and clear" is from me :-). May I ask how do record all the radio traffic (sending AND receiving)? Also: where is the camera? On your head?

Thanks Claudio! I use an audio splitter cable similar to this one: www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/1978 and a Zoom H1 recorder to record the audio. The audio splitter cable fits between my headset and the aircraft intercom. I originally had a plug which I plugged my Zoom H1 into one of the empty intercom sockets but always found the audio too high or too low. With this approach the audio is exactly what I hear and often times better than what I hear so it works much better. The Zoom H1 has worked well but recently it has been corrupting the occasional recording so I lost some audio from my trip to the UK and the flight back from Donaueschingen was also corrupted. The camera is a GoPro 3 which I have mounted on my head. The angle in this video is not the best and it should be aimed a bit more down. The Piper is not the best for this camera position either as the sunshades are in line with the camera and block the view straight ahead. But I find generally the GoPro is prone to a sort of jello wobble effect due to its rolling shutter when it is fixed to the aircraft.

Wow... interesting equipment, very professional! Thanks a lot for the super detailed information, it's very appreciated, I now discovered you regularly post your flights... I'll keep an eye (and an ear) on them. The Radio-telephony course is just finished today... this will help.

Fantastico filmato!! E' l'aereo su cui voli tu Claudio?
@ClaudioPedrazzi10 жыл бұрын

Hello Airforce_aviation, Sorry for the late reply I don't get notified anymore when someone leaves a comment. No I'm not a flight instructor. But Schupfart has some really good instructors and is a good place to learn to fly.
