Guthrie Govan, fyi is the single best guitarist in the world, he can play every genre, every style and to this day no one has even come close to his level of mastery on the instrument. As a guitarist he is a massive inspiration to me.
@boykidmanboykidman54202 жыл бұрын
@@wiebenijenhuis1825 Guthrie really is on that level where no one really compares to him, but its hard to say hes the “single” best player because guitar is like infinitely versatile and people can come up with new ways of playing and whatnot and many players are unique. But if u like Guthrie and havnt heard of people like Shawn Lane, Tommy Emanuel, and the newer generation of guitarists like Tosin Abasi, Manuel Gardner Fernandez, Tim Henson, Ichika, Mateus Asato, these guys are also on their own level altho id say Guthrie is better than them overall they are all worth a check.

As a HUGE fan of Guthrie Govan, (guitarist), I never tire of performances like this. In the world of music, there is no "greatest", as it's too subjective. Favorites are based on one's taste. I don't particularly enjoy listening to Celine Dion sing, but will argue with the haters all day that she is absolutely one of the greatest singers to ever breathe air, because regardless of my taste in singers, her abilities are staggering. Hans introduces Guthrie to his audiences as "the greatest guitar player in the world." Guthrie would be the first to disagree. But the reason so many guitarists back that up is because we can, at least to some degree, agree. You may have a more favorite jazz guitarist, or classical guitarist, or fusion guitarist, or metal guitarist, or country guitarist, or folk guitarist, etc...but...Guthrie is outstanding at all of those genres and it is simply...mind-boggling! So I avoid saying "greatest" in regards to anything that isn't a measurable metric, especially if it's based in art, but I would absolutely say, he embodies talent, musical vocabulary, ability, discipline, virtuosity, and versatility better than anyone else on the instrument, at least out of the pool of professionals known to the public. 🙌🏻

Guthrie Govan is one Best guitar player now.

Every single performance he played that solo *completely* different. And every single performance it was just as in place, just as melodic, just as awe inspiring and just as improvised. If you don’t believe me, find a couple different videos of this song from different venues. Guthrie is the best guitarist on the planet right now, both technically and musically.

Saw Zimmer and Guthrie live last tuesday, can confirm was another magical improvisation. But I've seen guthrie live for the Aristocrats as well in a way smaller venue, and the man is just one improv machine. He'll never play a solo exactly the same.

@Baribrotzer2 жыл бұрын
It's a job. He's playing OK music - even if most of it is cheesy movie scores - and playing with good musicians. And the paycheck probably keeps his rent current, and allows him to do less-commercial stuff like The Aristocrats.
@frednerk83662 жыл бұрын
@@Baribrotzer Agreed. But I fear that his Aristocrats and solo work may be a long time coming when Zimmer pays him a fortune for this, as you say, cheesy stadium rubbish.
@Baribrotzer2 жыл бұрын
@@frednerk8366 But this stuff doesn't take a huge percentage of his time - maybe three months of touring a year, if that much. And a musician on his level can learn music FAST, sight-read what he doesn't know, and fake his way through mistakes. Most of it doesn't sound all that much harder than Pink Floyd. Remember, Zimmer's band has also included Johnny Marr - who has a unique sound and feel, but is mostly a punk rock ear player. Which, for that matter, is Zimmer's strength: as a composer, he definitely has a sound of his own, but it's more about a distinctive way of putting sounds together than an involved technique for putting notes together.
@frednerk83662 жыл бұрын
@@Baribrotzer I hope that you are correct, but GG has'nt done anything else (as far as I am aware) since joining Zimmer - and it's been a while now. The prancing violinists only cheapen the thing. As a player, I can assure you that Zimmers theatrical stuff is much easier to play than virtually any Pink Floyd number.
@SantoshKuppens2 жыл бұрын
I think Guthrie's honoured to be playing (literally) right next to Hans Zimmer. I love Guthries work with The Aristocrats and the chemistry between the three players just instantly brings a smile to my face time I see these 3 guys together. Guthrie is someone who seems to be doing what he likes. It's not the most technical music he plays here, but he probably thinks it's fun improvising over other chords than he's used to. And to be involved in such a major show. Compare that to 3 guys on a tiny stage. Must be quite a kick for him as well.
