@MS-un8hg5 жыл бұрын
@cuongpham62185 жыл бұрын

This is one of those uploads that I watch, and gets me all emotional. I arrived in West Berlin 1988. And I was sad to leave in 1991. I love the way you have imprinted the names of each site on the video. That’s such a fantastic idea. I remember places like the stadt hotel. There was a cocktail bar in there, where we would enjoy socialising. The Maifeld where we performed the Queens Birthday Parade every year. As time goes by, and I get older, these types of videos bring a lump to my throat. As my Italian friend always say. This is our Berlin. It’s how we remember her.

Agree, unfortunately, there is so little left of the pre-war Berlin's beauty. Newly build houses and offices are looking alike and were build without good taste. The senseless aerial bombings of many beautiful cities like Dresden, Cologne ... Berlin left them in ruins from which they were never able to recover. Those cities are now organically fragmented, flickered and with broken historical continuity. Even 70 years after the war, visitors can not ignore the feelings of despair and sadness for the past destruction which is still visible today.

God bless Germany and Germans.Japan's national anthem Kimigayo was made by Hayashi Hiromori and German Franz Eckert.Japan made the constitution, medicine, the army in by reference to Germany during the Meiji era. Japan succeeded in modernizing thanks to Germany. Japan learned a lot from Germany.There are two Germans statues at the University of Tokyo in Japan. There are many other German statues in Japan. Germany is a Japanese teacher.I always pray to God for the eternal happiness and peace of Germany.We Japanese sent 9,000 cherry blossom trees to Germany in 1990. The Japanese always cooperate with Germany.This cherry blossom tree is still in Berlin.We Japanese love Germany and Germans very much. Japan imports many German products to support Germany. The most imported cars in Japan are German cars.Most of the cars that run in my town are German cars.This is a story that Japanese people helped Germans in japanese Okinawa Miyakojima, Japan. In 1873, the German Merchant shipRobertoson was hit by a typhoon.The ship was aground off Miyakojima Miyakokuni. At that time, the islander rescues the crew.They gave some food to the Germans.They gave Germans a place to sleep. The islanders repaired the German ship.The days were 34 days.And the islanders put a lot of food and water on the ship and sent the Germans to Germany safely.There are still monuments sent from Germany in Okinawa.Japan will always help Germans from now on. After the war, the German city was destroyed and many Germans were killed. We Japanese are very sad about that. I pray to God that Germany will never be unhappy again. There is a tower in my town praying for the Germans soul to be saved.It is a story in the Bando camp.About 100 years ago, there were many German prisoners of war in Japan.Japan did not treat German POWs awfully. The Japanese treated German POWs as friends. Japan respected German POW freedom. Germans were respected in Japan. They spread German culture and history, beer and sausages, Bam Kuuchen etc to Japan. The German bridge created by German prisoners of war is still well preserved in Japan.Japan did not want a war with Germany. At that time, Britain and Japan were allies. There was a request from the United Kingdom, and it became a battle with Germany. Japan allowed German POWs to do sports and cultural activities.Exchanges between villagers and Germans were also popular. It is more correct to say that the camp where the Germans were located is a German village than a camp. When the Germans returned home, Japanese and Germans grieved for goodbye.

The street Unter den Linden is not under construction. Since I am alive the street is under construction. I think it was looking better than today. So clean. Not abandoned buildings.

@@spidyman8853 Sorry, I read a lot of your statements here, but now I have to answer. The safety is no more critical than in other big cities. I'm more than 60 years old and had never safety problems in Berlin. Sorry, your not right. You can't compare the 80's/90's with 30 years later. Cities, countries, people governments are not the same ... nowhere in the world. Yes, Berlin is not the same and that is fantastic sometimes and sometimes isn't. Life is change. Don't cry about former times, they're gone.

What confuses me is that very little footage exists of the deconstruction of the wall. What I mean is, the actual physical reunification of Germany. The relinking of roads, relinking of electricity and television systems, all of that.

If I could I would bring back the pre war berlin... All of those beautiful buildings completely gone... Which that also means that there would be a lot of demolitions.... I don't know why specifically but European cities with modern designs just look bland and soulless to me sure now areas such as Unter den Linden look much better but there is room for improvement there... That's why a city like München has priority for a visit to Germany
@spidyman88534 жыл бұрын
I visited DDR in 80s before the wall fell and I can tell you it was the safest city in the world. After 1990 it was..... ALL CHANGE NOW!!!
@rogibln8424 жыл бұрын
Berlin was nearly destroyed after the war, that' why it seems so soulless. The modern buildings are not a reason to visit Berlin, but you can see a lot of reconstructed buildings, like the museums at the Museums-Insel and others, if you are interested.

Yeah, kind of. Some of the bigger cities like Leipzig, Erfurt or Potsdam are islands of prosperity in a sea of a declining surrounding area, because the most of the rural parts of eastern germany become wastelands in the next decades.
