Flight Overdue (1952) Tales of tomorrow TV show. good episode
which implies Amelia Earhart was somehow bumped off by her husband or taken by Aliens but I am still confused. let me know if I got it all wrong. (vanished! anyway)

But her 50's short short hair was NOT a good look. Lake without the peek-a-boo hair do.......no, not good.

@@Theywaswrong I agree. Very bad hairstyle. My Mom told me that Mamie Eisenhower started the trend for the super short hair with very short bangs.

So.......THAT's what happened to Amelia Earhart!!! Flight overdue, lost in the Pacific and never heard from again. No trace of her. She has been ON THE MOON!!! Buried on Boot Hill.

What a great story. After pining after the ghost of his missing wife, he finally realised that he had a wonderful woman right there beside him. Someone who loved him and didn't take him for granted.

Love the commercials. I thought Veronica Lake was comic book character.

"I Married a Witch" with Fredric March. Several movies with Joel McCrae just to mention some. And yes, these old commercials are the only ones I dont fast forward through.

Veronica died at a very young age, I believe she was 49. Alcoholism was her downfall.

Man I sure hated those 50's short hair styles and so many went for it. After the great hair of the late 30's and 40's these 50's hair styles...no, nope, nada. Veronica Lake sure looks, well, so different. In her later years, she became an alcoholic, moved between rundown hotels in New York and worked as a waitress and laundry woman. When she died in 1973 of hepatitis and liver failure, she was cremated. It was reported in the news that her ashes, or some of the her ashes, were discovered in a flea market/antique store in 2004 in New York. She had children but cared little about them and lost contact. A son claimed her body and may have sold the ashes.

At the end, the announcer was speechless for a few seconds like in WTF!!??-this is how it ends? And no perky Kreisler twins to sing. Downer.

Even though Veronica Lake is only about 30 here they made look like she was 40 with that awful haircut. But her heyday was in the 40s with her popularity and long blond hair and elegant look. Tomboy-ed her up for this part as a experimental pilot.

Hey, that ending was a little disappointing. How did she every get through the "Veronica Lake Belt" surrounding the Earth, all that radioactivity and the moon, only about 240,000 miles away, not millions? I guess we'll never know from 1952!(ls)

This show had an early feminist flavor! Perhaps a strong touch of woman power. I'm sure Betty frieden loved it in 1952. I was 10 years old then and I might have seen it then.

I don’t know, I think it communicates the exact opposite of a feminist message. Paula’s ambition is shown to be selfish and misaligned with her family responsibilities, so her husband eventually realizes he’s better off that Paula is dead and never coming back. Unless you call that a feminist moral story.

I found the ending abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying. I was anticipating that the final radio signal would be heard by everyone in the room. It would be Paula explaining why she had to participate in the mission and why she lived the life she did. She would say that she did love her husband but she loved her flying life equally.

Only flaw in the story is not explaining the signals bouncing around for a few years. People weren't as sophisticated back then, so they didn't bother.

well dang that ending was brutal from the husband...lolz. but understandable. she loved her aviator life more. sometimes thats how it goes. so she was recruited into a secret space mission. to to the moon no less. amazing. this is apollo 0. if thats what really happened tho i wouldnt be suprised. not the first time gov cover ups will happen. the legacy and top secrets ops of USA is legendary!! :D

Who does she think she is, Amelia Earhart? lol In 1937 Amelia flew across the Atlantic yes, but the Pacific can be just as treacherous and unpredictable. And what year is this movie making reference to? Remember, aviation and it's technology was still kinda young back then. Sadly, one of Amelia's contributors to her demise.
