I have them on all my non molded sets. I swear by them. Both for the slight added weight and for the flight protection.

Use them not for protecting the flight (the flight still rips down where they sit) but for keeping good flight shape. Used on 75 Micron flights, but the new winmau 75 micron flights are as rigid as 100s and I far prefer the flex from the thinner flights. I reckon that they have reduced the robin hood count though as another benefit. Also prefer the lower profile protectors (used to be dee-pee-dees) but I believe target now hold that design and bumped the price accordingly.

They are very useful if they are the right size. If they are too big, they can cause unwanted bounces, but they do their job.

In my opinion they are pretty useless. If you are using a 75 micron flight, they help to keep the flights at a 90 degree angle, but they don’t hold on to the flight very well and searching for them on the ground is a nightmare. They hold better onto thicker flights, but they hold the shape better anyway.

I have used them before. I didn't robin hood the dart, but i actually sliced one flight with the other... I have only seen this while using the flight protector. I stopped using them.

What they don't solve is flights splitting because the glue isn't the best, something bulk buyers of old flights on discount might experience. Holding that spine together and helping to maintain a 90 degree angle is still an advantage I use and sometimes it makes the setup actually look better.
