FLIGHT REPORT | Manila to Puerto Princesa | Philippine Airlines | Airbus A321

Hi guys, welcome back to my KZbin channel!
This time we will be flying to Puerto Princesa, the main gateway to Palawan, aboard Philippine Airlines. We will be taking an Airbus A321.
PAL's attempt to gain a 5th star from SkyTrax may hit a snag, given that we experienced a downgrade in onboard service. When before we would be served a meat-filled sandwich out of Manila, this time a Lemon Square cheese cake snack was served instead. But that aside, it was an okay flight, and you can see the Puerto Princesa's new terminal in my video, so watch the entire video please.

Yup, 2P-operated flight, but unless one sees the "Operated by airphil express" (or so) markings below the cockpit windows, one couldn't properly distinguish PR and 2P. Even 2P announcements include referring to PAL as "your four-star national carrier". Even 2P used to serve meat filled sandwiches dati. Got served them on MPH and CEB flights. Too bad, however, that the standard of service across both entities (PR and 2P) went a bit down compared to the not-so recent past.

The old terminal being covered by sawali? I am not sure but I think it is going to be used by Lufthansa Technik Palawan sub-office. The terminal is the tool room and the apron will be the work area.

I also experienced gate change from Terminal 2 last April 18,2019 PR418 from Gate 2 to Gate 5

I think it’s because you were flying on a PAL Express flight that’s why you weren’t served Sky Treats. PAL Express is PAL’s answer to low cost carrier Cebu Pacific although it’s been 6 months since I last flew on a PAL domestic flight and I don’t know if they still serve Sky Treats on legit PAL flights (PR and not 2P).

Been on a 2P-operated flight to CEB last Nov, still served Skytreats back then

Flew with PAL on a domestic flight (PR1845 to Cebu last December 6, 2018) and they still served a Chicken Franks Bunwich Sky Treat back then and even when I flew with 2P to Iloilo on the same day (PR2386) they served a Mongo Roll Sky Treat. But when I flew with 2P last April they were no longer serving them. It’s sad but I guess it’s necessary if they want to save costs.

Extremely difficult to differentiate PR and 2P operated flights. Except for the snack service, there is no attempt to make the passengers feel that these two are separate carriers on paper.

Ang Biyaherong Fanboy that’s quite true. Aside from the flight number (PR2xxxx for 2P), if you’re not an aviation enthusiast or are not observant, you won’t know the difference. One thing I’ve noticed though (at least from my recent 2P experience) is that they don’t announce the “your 4-star national carrier” on the PA as opposed to frequently announcing it on PR flights. 😂

PAL but the lunchtime flight we took is seasonal. Only 5am and 5pm flights ex MNL are year-round. There is also a 10am PAL flight from Clark IIRC.
