Dr Alan, I'm learning to fly helicopters and learning all about helicopter related questions & tests. You are amazing! I've been looking for someone like you who is humble, explains EVERYTHING & doesn't assume people know the aviation jargon: you are so honest, professional, no bad language, you're not cynical or condescending and you are transparent and I love the way you are teaching & opening up easier & logical ways of doing the formulas etc. Thank you so so much for giving up your time so selflessly and graciously. I will be watching EVERY one of your videos and will use all your teaching methods. I've just subscribed. Truly awesome!

HI Dr. Feller. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Question: At the very beginning of your measuring, I noticed you measured on the side of the cp-rlx to what would match my statute side. My nautical miles measured to @ 50 and the statute came to @ 58. When do we use which side? (obviously when I did it on my own in practice tests, I was wrong.) thank you.

He said on his introduction to plotter video that you use the sectional the one without the small tick always. The one with the tick are for world maps.

In case anyone's curious, you multiply by 60 because the division comes out in hours. Knots are nautical miles per hour, so 58NM / 104 NM/hr ... the NM cancel leaving 0.55769... hours. To convert hours to minutes multiply by 60 0.55769 Hr * 60 min/Hr = 33.46 minutes.

Can you send a link or a pdf of the paper you were using?

I saw the E6B instructions state to set wind direction under the true index first then after putting in wind velocity, you turn to True Course. I think that would change the wind variation for a flight? Ground speed however works both ways :) thanks for the video!

I love your worksheet, but not practicing with the other side of the EB6 to get the flight time could be dangerous - your check ride instructor might want to see you've got that skill

Can I bring your flight time sheet into the testing facility?
@jc29426 жыл бұрын
I got it and so simple but I used 103 ground speed instead of your 104 giving me a 34.7567 making 35 the correct answer without any doubt!!! Hats off to the inventor of the flight computer!! A 5th grader can do this!! LOL

To Allen Feller it good your trying to how to come up with the answers but there is only one problem, could not see what you were seeing. More so the map and the tools you using the only person could see it up close was you. The camera didn't help me to see what you see. I like the idea of your teaching but more useful if I could see it. And one more thing what is Zulu time versus regular time on a clock on the wall?

If you use the other side of the E6B you can solve without the 1 dollar computer. It is good to have a plan B . Thanks for the alternative.
