Thanks for sharing! The A340 is a lovely aircraft. I've had the opportunity to fly with Etihad A340-500 some years ago, and it was very smooth and quiet. Too bad these airplanes are being phased out. The only bad point are the IFE, as you showed in your video... Good job!

nice review! I took this plane back in august 2015 from AUH to CDG. I love the A340, their engines are so quiet. what a pity, etihad already stop using them...

As always, a brillant trip report. I won't cry any tears about the A346 being gotten rid of, completely obsolete planes, and Lufthansa regrets until today not buying the T7 instead of these drunken albatrosses ;) And they are loud when they overfly my town in the evening ... I am happy that they get replaced by the A350. It also is a symbol of how Americans outsmarted us Europeans. Airbus wanted a plane to compete on the transatlantic routes, and back then, ETOPS wasn't like it was today - so they built a 4-engine aircraft. And not even 5 years later, Boeing launched the T7 after the FAA changed the regulations regarding oceanic crossing, paving the way for twins :D (correct me if I am wrong here, but this is what I learnt some time ago ...) Did you know that Etihad, or at least some of their employees were involved, "drove" a brand-new A346 into a wall in Toulouse during an engine test, totalling it and injuring quite a few people? Anyway, I enjoy your videos very much, keep them coming :)

Thanks! The A340-600 is indeed a very inefficient plane when it comes to fuel consumption. However, as a passenger I prefer travelling on the A340 compared to the 777 as it is actually more quiet in the cabin.

Great video! I love A340 but he will be phrased out soon so I'll never get the opportunity to fly with him! :) I' m not a big fan of Etihad Airways or Emirates, my Gulf love is Qatar Airways haha, but still Lufthansa is on the first place in my list. :) Can I ask you a little bit stupid question? Any plans for flights with Bulgaria air or Wizz air? In my opinion Wizz air is the best low cost carrier in Europe(except the tight seat pitch). :)

Flugzeug Dokus I like their low cost product, they are always on time, already starts to fly to big airports like Frankfurt airport, and the crews are really superb, I don’t like Etihad like airline, sorry but I prefer Qatar if I have to fly with one of the Gulf carriers! :)

Also ich muss sagen, dass ich die A340-600 total gut finde. Bin bisher nur die A346 von Lufthansa geflogen. Der Flug von MUC nach SFO in der Economy war wunderbar. Man hat da noch richtig Platz. Ich mag generell die Konfiguration 2-4-2 lieber als 3-4-3. Der Flug mit der A380 von LAX nach FRA dagegen war höchst unbequem. Ich werde die A346 vermissen, wenn sie außer Dienst geht. Wie immer, toller Trip Report :)

A340 was a complete disaster for Airbus. Personally, I prefer the triple seven. More comfortable and has a sound when taking off.

The A340 is a nice but when we talk about efficienty you are right, there is the 777 and the A330 better

A340 was a good plane and good for it's own time. But now in the age of 7 + billion humans fuel has become precious and four engined planes will no help to conserve fuel. A380 might be more common but it is a fuel efficient aircraft with a higher passenger capacity, so more profitable.
