How do you "press up" on the altitude select at 09:00? I don't get that little up arrow no matter where I place the mouse cursor, only a hand. I think the same thing is preventing me from selecting a heading in manual mode... what am I missing?
@FlightSimSchool3 ай бұрын
You need to change the cockpit interaction to legacy, it’s in the accessibility options

@@FlightSimSchool Thanks! Figured that out from some AVSim posts (I think)... it seems like 'Lock' mode is probably better in some ways, but I just couldn't get the 'hold left mouse button while right clicking' to do anything.

Thanks for the video! I'll be buying a Series X soon (and FS) and my interest is really only in simulation, so I'll be spending my time learning. I'm aware of the 'main' instruments and basics of aviation, but you mention quite a few specifics in this video such as, for instance, turning on fuel pumps, setting the APU bleed, etc., etc. For a novice like myself who wants to understand things beyond just throttle, control surfaces, navigation, etc., where's the best place to go to learn this sort of 'checklist detail' ? The FS training center ? Or some other KZbin videos ?
@FlightSimSchool10 ай бұрын
Hi Gary, first of all, welcome to the world of flight simulation, glad to have you on board :) Everyone learns differently, so I usually recommend people try a bit of everything. Some beginner KZbin tutorials will help (I have a playlist for that), then try your hand at some of the built-in training (it's a bit flaky at times though), and if you're someone who likes reading, there's a book I always recommend called 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X For Pilots: Real World Training'. It's for FSX, but all the concepts of flight are still the same, that doesn't change. Then when it comes to specifics to know which knob to push, usually a good checklist will help you out there (which you can get from flightsim.to). Generally though, you're best to do a walkthrough flight with a YT video until you get a feel for where the different instruments and controls are. That should get you going, but if you have any follow ups, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the videos, but I seem to be doing something wrong. I first get a A.floor notification followed by TOGALK where you get SPEED. My Autopilot also keeps turning on and off, and the MCDU gave a notification saying ENTER DEST DATA when I did the same exact steps that you did.
@FlightSimSchool Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you were flying too slow and the plane activated A.FLOOR to protect itself. Once you get into TOGALK, you have to disconnect the Autothrottle on the FCU, move your throttles to CLB, and then re-activate the auto throttle.
