Altoids tins work great, but my fav is an empty kiwi shoe polish round tin. Makes a really nice, air tight seal without needing a gasket or anything. Just the little hole in the top, fill it with cotton and wait for the smoke from the hole to stop. Done and done. Excellent video btw. From making the char cloth, to using it.

You can also use rotting wood instead of cloth, and char it with the same technique. It works great and keeps smoldering for about a minute or more, depending on the size. It's also more easily available when you're out in the wild.

My buddy and I recently lit a bbq with flint and steel with char cloth. It was a hilarious endeavour and after watching your video I now know what we were doing wrong. Thank you for the tutorial
