As an Army Brat, I basically grew up in Bad Tolz. My father was one of the original members of US Army Special Forces and the 10th Special Forces Group was stationed at Flint Kaserne, in Bad Tolz. We moved there in 1953 and we lived there until 1955 when we moved to Berlin. In 1957, we came back to the US, but in 1958, moved back to Bad Tolz. In 1964, we returned to The US but in 1966 we came back again, for 18 months. I was last in Bad Tolz in 1967 but I will be retiring next year and my wife (another Army Brat who lived in Stuttgart) are planning to return to Germany for a month. I can't wait to see Bad Tolz again. Thank you for this wonderful Video.

Many wonderful memories of our years as an Army family at Flint Caserne and the 7th Army NCO Academy. South Bavaria is so beautiful.

I was just there last night. Parked in the old place going to an Ice Hockey game with some young people that had to put up with my old stories. I was also there many times in the 80's. I live about an hour away from there nowadays. I remember taking a swim test in that pool.

Did 30 days, IIRC, TDY in the 7th Army NCO Academy there in '64. Beautiful place, great training, outstanding staff.

I lived just down the street from the swimming pool - Quarters #6 if I recall correctly. Dad was assigned to the Quartermaster School in Lengries (sp). Of all the places we lived while dad was in the Army, Bad Tolz was, by far, the best.

I visited while on mission in the USAFE. Brought some USAF down there for "Platoon Confidence Training" out in the woods! Taught by a certain Beret wearer.....

I was supposed to be an instructor there in 1988 but got my orders changed to Ludwigsburg at the last minute, I was not very happy about that.

I was stationed in Flint Kasern in 1951 and 1952 while serving in the 43 Infantry Division. It was a beautiful complex with marble walls and floors, steam bath, indoor swimming pool, etc. Nothing but the best. Our favorite hangout off base was the Eine Bach Muel (spl). Sometime in '52 we moved to the Johnson Barracks in Furth.

I lived here from July 1971 to October 31,1974. My father was stationed here. And it's spelled Kaserne.

I went to PLDC during early 1975. I remember only bits & pieces about Flint Kaserne. The Barber shop, the small PX and the grounds inside the walls. Very cold morning formations after snowfall before dawn. Waxing the dreaded "Autobahn" hallway with black shoe polish. Enjoyed whatever time could be stolen from the weekends to view the surrounding area. Went back in the early '90s during my last tour in German. How the place had changed.

@@thelistener4101 Was there as a kid and went back for victor-9 training in 86. I couldn't believe how much it was the same except this time I was in the Army not my dad. Now it's gone as far as I know. Funny you were there in 75 so was I from 75-78.
