South Mississippi gravel and Tallahatta is about all i work. Your videos have helped me conquer these small creek pebbles. No longer ending up with turtlebacks but small bifaces for points.

Another one of your masterful lessons in efficient thinning and the use of your fingers for support and direction, great work Ed!

Really appreciate your skill! I also enjoy watching the videos. You mention punch work in some older videos, i would love to see a video of your punch work technique . I bet ole scooby would enjoy it also.

I love the gravel videos. This is my bread and butter as a knapper. I run a lot of those edge flakes to remove square edges.I set up the edges and run flakes on the top and bottom of the square edge like ridges from the tip up to the base because I can set a platform in a place I'm going to lose anyway. I have to use the squared copper cap bopper instead of the domed ones.

I've seen a lot of similar mudstone and quartz points along the NC-SC state line. ours usually have a shorter base though. Pretty work.

Your accuracy is amazing. How long did it take you to develop that and are there any tips for a new knapper to improve accuracy with percussion? Just doing it repetitively, I'd imagine...

Started in 1979. It should only take a couple of years. Thanks for watching!

@@EDBO23 1979! I'm just going to keep hitting on the edge of some porcelain tile scraps to try to build muscle memory at a low cost.

What are the parts and process for making those angled boppers? I really like the leverage! Are they lead-filled?
@EDBO23

No lead. Just pvc electric tape and copper cap.

@@EDBO23 about how heavy are your boppers? Seems to me the reason I'm not getting the flakes I need is my hammer stones aren't heavy enough, I really have to smack it to drive an over shot flake. I keep ending up with humps on the middle of my pieces because it won't drive across when I really need it to.

Is this stuff similar to buffalo river?

Only in quality. This gravel is small while Buffalo River is often really big nodules.
