Thank you for making these videos I'm still a beginner and I find that a lot of the guys that know what they're doing tend to forget what it's like To be a beginner. The also tend to sit so far from the camera that it's hard to get a good view of what they're doing. Again thank you and keep up the good work

You have a lot of knowledge about flintknapping, and I can see you enjoy it and do it not only for your subscribers, but also for yourself. I have a suggestion for you, you could section of an area somewhere just for filming. You would have a stack of plastic drawers labelled specifically for flintknapping, and a cloth for striking with the bopper. But it is your channel, so keep doing what you do best! :D

Thought you would do the real thing. Try starting with a 8 inch diameter, round, quartz cobble.
@bobgriffin27435 жыл бұрын
You need to work on getting your platforms below the center line of the core. If you get the platform lower you will take off a larger flake when trying to remove bumps like the fat you are referring to.

There are several kinds of rock. You'll have to spend a little but goknapping.com is a good source for rock and the necessary tools. I highly recommend the book Art of Flintknapping by D.C. Waldorf. Goknapping.com has the book for roughly 20 bucks.
@American-Plague4 жыл бұрын
Glass also works. Plain old glass. Old TV screens or computer monitors have thick glass (although they are becoming harder and harder to find as time goes on)...even beer bottles can be knapped. (You cannot use safety glass like what's in car windows) YT search "knapping bottle glass". You don't want to spend half a fortune on the best natural rock just to turn it into trash while you learn. Practice on what's free first. (That's my financial advice anyway) I will say that it "feels" to me that natural obsidian actually knaps better than manmade glass but, had I not practiced on glass first, I'd of just blown through $50 of obsidian per day at first...although everyone has their own learning curve....
