Hanging out in the pubs studying Brinsley Schwarz et al certainly must have been a musical education.

I've only heard the acoustic version of this song that came as a bonus track on the box set that included the first 3 studio albums and "Live at the El Mocambo". Finding this version was a very pleasant surprise! I'd really like to know where this came from.

A much more "Attractions-era" version of this was on the US release version of My Aim is True (as was Watching the Detectives), but wasnt on the original UK/European release. Not sure which version I prefer, but this certainly gives you a better feel for some of Declan's earlier influences. The MAiT version is a lot angrier, and the lyrics hit you with more impact, but I think this one is richer, musically.

Yes, this is both great and really interesting. The Graham Parker influence is pretty obvious, though I'm happy Elvis moved on from this style. What an incredible set of rarities could be compiled from Elvis' pre Attractions era!

You may notice there's only one guitar on this track. Steve Hazlehurst was playing tenor sax.

If he didn't produce MUCH better material in the next coming years, he'd have never been famous.
