Flying a hang glider while standing in the control bar has resulted in death for more than one pilot. Don Whalen comes to mind, I was there when he died back in 1973, at Sylmar Calif.
@erikajklein6 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about that experience. I wouldn’t recommend doing it in the mountains unless you’re high up and, of course, hooked in
@dburton79295 ай бұрын
@@erikajklein Being hooked in is exactly what makes this so deadly. If you should slip forward through the control bar, this shifts weight forward, resulting in a vertical dive. The deeper the dive, the more the control bar becomes unreachable. Should you have an opportunity to speak with Joe Greblo, ask him about this accident, I believe he was there when it happened. Tell him Denny Burton says hello.

You must know 'gliders', but this glider is called a HANG GLIDER. As the name implies, you hang and operate it by shifting your weight left, right, and center. This requires NO LICENSE but needs at least 20 days of training to operate. However, this counts as aviation, so you are flying a "plane"( technically, I mean) with 1 month or so training. You do need approval of a professional like Erika sister over here, in order to fly solo. Hope this helped
