Ah, I was hoping for a stained finish to let the veneer shine. 😢 Maybe next time.

I’m so glad you said something about Fusion. I have been using it on my last 3 projects and have had a terrible time not having brush strokes. Maybe using oxalic acid on the drawers could have evened them out so you could have stained. Beautiful job.

I totally agree. I typically use oxalic acid for water based stains. This discoloration was different. I actually used the wood conditioner before I made the decision to paint, and it was still really blotchy. It was a bummer.

You need a really good brush, I have Cling On. Never get brushstrokes.

Yes, Oxalic Acid on stains. May not work, but when it does it’s magic.

If I’m being honest, I was a little disappointed with this one. I was hoping to stain all the drawers. Thanks for watching! ☺️

I noticed I didn’t hear you say anything about any treatments for the stains. So maybe you should try oxalic acid or white spirits to reduce stains so you can stain the way you want to and work around those type of issues! But I’m enjoying your videos!

👋 hey. It wasn’t a stain. It was tones in the wood, similar to sun bleaching but not exactly that. It’s why the finish was tinted originally by the manufacturer, I’m guessing. The veneer was just a poor quality for staining. Thanks for hangin with me.

Totally baffled by the choice to replace those beautiful original handles with ones that look like something you’d see on a desk at Staples. I don’t get it.

A waterfall with what looks to be burl veneer…..and you painted it…..😢
@upcyclestudio

It was veneer, but not burl. But let me also remind you that this dresser sat in a musty basement for decades. It’s now in use… that’s what matters to me.
