I see a huge problem with Ebay having both your SS# and bank account number and other personal information in one place. Lets not forget that Ebay has been hacked on a couple of occasions and the only thing that limited the damage was that PayPal information wasn't. So while they got customers names, log in's, and all the other info you gave to Ebay, your financial info was secure because of different log in's required by PayPal. This safety net will now be gone. I see Ebay becoming the hackers business of choice and believe me, if they do get hacked, Ebay will do everything it can to keep that info from leaking out. I would have a separate account for Ebay only, just in case. It's going to happen, question is how soon and how bad it will be.

My advice Deb is not to wait to ship your items. The only way I would wait to ship is if you have your handling time set to 3 days and even then that is hurting you in search. This delay to receive payment is common in the retail world with sellers on Amazon, Poshmark and Mercari having even more restrictive processes. I don't necessarily agree with it however these are the rules of the game ebay is telling us we have to play by. I have been using Managed Payments since September of 2019 and other than once incident that was eventually cleared up, I have not encountered problems with this system. I hope you can as well but please be mindful of your metrics. If you wait for your payments to clear and send items late it can hurt your account. Good luck to you.

PayPal scenario; when an item is sold your payment is almost automatics. So we ship the sold item as soon as the money is deposit and that give you a great sellers rate and then you get the discounts add ups at the end of the month and your sellers rate stay high. Now with the new "Managed Payments" are you not ship right away or until you receive your payment ? I'm asking cuz I haven't switched to the new "Managed Payments", my account has been suspended and I'm not able to add any NEW items. They suspended my account like 2 weeks ago but today was strange. I sold an item and the payment went to PayPal. In a perfect world, ebay would have come up with a way to front the funds for the seller once the buyer has paid to allow you to do just that. Maybe they could have designed it as a perk for established sellers up to a specific dollar amount (lets say up to $100). Once you have sold on ebay for a year and have say 100+ transactions without any major defects you qualify for this program. I think most sellers aren't trying to scam ebay and even if they did, ebay has their social and checking information.

I appreciate your integrity regarding the issue of customers overpaying for shipping however please consider some things. Your time has value, the resources you use to make the customers experience of receiving the package costs money. Bubble wrap, air pillows, packing tape, boxes, polymailers, all cost money. To add to all of that, you are paying ebay fees on the shipping the customer has paid to you. If you are charging the correct weight and dimensions of a package and maybe the shipping comes out cheaper because of your ebay discounted labels, I would advise against giving partial refunds. While it is a nice gesture, customers will come to expect these things if enough resellers engage in this practice. If you still wish to do this, go to the item, select issue refund and the ebay tool should come up allowing you to issue a partial refund for the amount you specify. All the best to you going forward!

Social is required for all eBay sellers. While a seller might sell only a few items now, they have no way to know if you might sell more in the future. You can request daily or weekly payments. Unlike Paypal, you cannot request to keep funds in your "available" balance. I would suggest keeping funds in your designated checking account just in case. If you are selling consistently, this wont be a problem for most people however.

This is what ebay's mp page says, " If your pending and available funds are not sufficient to cover these amounts, we will charge your payment method on file (debit or credit card, and/or linked bank account) within 14 days." My payment method is my credit card on file. I would hope that they would charge my card, not reach into my linked bank account, which is usually empty.

@@edennis8578 I have my credit card on file yet the one time this happened to me they hit my bank account.

Amazon makes you wait two weeks to receive your payments on all items sold.

Yes and you will also have some funds in reserve until a certain time. I sell on amazon not as green on that side as well.

Ebay was better than Amazon....only sellers that have been selling since back in the day can get deposits every 24 hours

How do you pay for the shipping if you have no money in your bank account?
@jonm48023 жыл бұрын
That's why I use my regular bank acct. As there's always money in there to cover a ebay draw. Now here's my question if they do that and you refund the money do they refund your bank directly or do you lose 2x the return price. Example they with old $30 and you have no pending funds so they debit your bank. Then you refund $30 when you get item back. How do you get that $30 back they took immediately from your bank?
@FlippinAintEasy3 жыл бұрын
Here is how it works. If the buyer opens a return on that $30 item, ebay will place a hold on any current funds you have up to $30. If you do not have enough funds to cover that $30, any future funds you receive from other sales go on hold until the $30 is recouped. That $30 stays in the "on hold" state until you (or ebay) processes the refund. At that time, if you still do not have enough funds to cover the $30, ebay, within 14 days will debit your checking account the remaining amount owed for that item. Now lets say ebay refunded the customer in error, and eventually they have to debit your account for those funds. Ebay will eventually send that money back to your account (if they decide the refund was sent in error or some other issue). There is no scenario I can think of where ebay would debit your checking account twice for the same refund. I hope that makes sense.

I have always sold on eBay accepting PayPal only and stating that in my listings. Does that now mean I have to accept all forms of payment from buyers and how do I state that in my listings about what payments I accept.
@RATED4EVER3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it matters what you state in your listings for payments as ALL funds will be going into your MP from ALL SALES that you make. I've ended ALL of my listings once I got the email stating that I need to enroll in MP by a specific date. All of these previous years selling on ebay, I've been including a NOTE stating which other sites that I sell on to inform my customers of these other buying/selling sites, which they otherwise wouldn't of known about, along with offering a ONE-TIME HIGH DISCOUNT to encourage my customers to start shopping for my items on these other sites. So far it hasn't brought in any sales, but at the end of the day all I can do is inform, offer, & advertise as I can't force anyone to purchase anything.

Great video my question about returns do they hold all the money or just the amount to be credited to the buyer?
@FlippinAintEasy3 жыл бұрын
They only hold the amount the buyer has paid you (including shipping and taxes)
