I've had a chest and dresser provincial set for at least 30 years. I always wanted to refinish it in a blue. Then along came my only granddaughter who fell in love with it as it was and wanted it in her bedroom. I'm now retired and brought it with me to my retirement house. I recently repaired and refinished a curbside find ,cane chairs, dining room table and coffee table for my granddaughter and her family. She loves old! So this winter I am going to finally finish this provincial set that now sits in my bedroom. Also a buffet, that is just like one you've refinished. Thanks for always going step by step. Love everything you do and the step by step instructions.

Thankfully, we all have different tastes and ideas about what we want for our own homes and these days, a vast range of products to get us there. I never mind painting repro furniture, or pine but genuine antiques, no. A refresh then enjoy the beauty of wood and craftsmanship that created them.

Some day in the far future the paint will start to chip or peel. That's when people will be shocked, the sander will come out, paint will be gone, and that beautiful original finish will return. I am not as fast as you are…cause I am a little old and a bit slower but it’s fun stuff! I want to suggest that you also include in your videos a statement regarding your overhead and taxes. What people do NOT understand…you might make $1350….or $1800 in profit…but you also have to pay for the overhead cost of your building/shop. You should also be paying income taxes for every flip…so your profit is not always as much as you state. But stating that in your video tells people it’s not ALL profit. Thank you for sharing with us. I appreciate your honesty and candor on your videos. Great job!!!

I love dark walnut because it matches my victorian home's staircase. So awesome that 4 generations get to enjoy your grandmama’s set! Papers inside, lol. Back in the day, they would place wallpaper sheets, inside of cabinets and drawers of dressers. They didn't paste them in so that they could remove them, without damage. The purpose of the wallpaper was to keep splinters off of clothing, and to keep out bugs. Expensive ones where sold with smells to keep out bugs. However wallpaper was costly at the time. So people would buy leftover, or discount wallpaper books and rip out the pages. That is why they often don't match. Cheaper wallpaper was thiner, and looks like regular paper to us now. I always like to learn new things, and I hope this helps you to understand for the future, also may help if you ever have to remove, stuck on ones. As our new removers don't work, but wallpaper remover dose. As always thank you for your hard work and time, and sharing your passion with us.

I used to remove wallpaper for a living before painting walls. The easiest way to remove old wallpaper is to mist it with warm water - let it sit (not dry) & scrape it off with a paint scraper. The water helps moisten the old glue so that it releases.

In my younger years I enjoyed upcycles/thrift flips/antiques restores/dollhouse builds/children's furniture/garden, yard, home signs/decor & misc woodcrafts. Supplies AIN'T cheap!! But, free wood from when hub worked in expensive custom homes is blessings. He's retired, now. 🤷♀️

The purists always cry like a kid with a skinned knee when natural wood is painted over. So every piece of wood furniture has to be stained? Some people like painted furniture. Is it all supposed to be made from particle board or it's some sort of crime? Even painted furniture should be of high quality and that comes from wood.

I have high hopes for this one! I redid my FP set in silver leaf during my glam era in circa 2010 and looking to refresh. I’ve since found two small dressers, about twice as wide as yours, that match my highboy and dresser that we use as fantastic bedsides. Fingers crossed. Yay! I have Algonquin and was leaning toward the same thing, paint bottom, paint wash top. I did my daughter’s FP set the lower 2/3 caviar and the top drawers and top Algonquin paint wash and I love it, for her. Black is too harsh for my room. I can’t wait to get started. I am going to change out my hardware though. ☺️ I still need a tad glam so I’m doing a wide acrylic pull bar.

From a selling perspective the linen will sell better than the blue, but I would have loved to have seen the blue.

Your artistic talents are always presented beautifully in your work. Art is subjective, so of course, whatever you choose will evoke different opinions. Keep up your lovely work and enjoy every moment 😀

How do you choose the furniture you're going to refurbish? Do you always visit before committing? What do you look for in a set of drawers or a coffee table or a bookshelf for example?

Great tip about only using the frog tape when you need to. I really appreciate that you keep budget in mind 👍

I think deep, deep navy blue with gold accents and natural top and bottom would look amazing.

I love this set. And loved it original as well. I think I would have liked to see the tops in a stain like the original with the neutral paint color. But so beautiful!!!

This is truly beautiful. I currently have a French provincial dresser and mirror and this gives me inspiration.
