Great video. I just got a new rod and reel. Loading it with Suffix 50#. I’m new and not very good. Been second guessing if I should’ve gone with heavier line. Thanks for giving me a little confidence! Mark

There use to not be much grass in lakes around me. I rarely used more than 1/4. Even around sparse cover in finding fish react to heavier weights sometimes . I know that’s been a tactic for a long time. But I remember when I first started you couldn’t hardly get bit with a heavier weight. We use to use a punch skirt set up with an 1/8 ounce weight to get a slow fall.

You listed the 7'4 Muse Black as the heavy setup and the 7'6 Essence as the light setup. I think that's backwards?
@jesseboyden3119 Жыл бұрын
They're both heavy action rods. Barely any difference anyway.

Personally for close quarters heavy cover I have a 7'4 heavy with braid. Then for lighter applications I have a 7'8 heavy. More tip and 20lb flouro. The way I see it I'm making longer pitches and there's a small amount of stretch so I pair it with a bigger rod

Wish some of these videos were on public water to see how it goes. I understand this is just educating but it’s not the same

0:07, this shot was filmed off the public boat access dock of a section of the Mississippi River the video was shot on.

Punching is like needle in a haystack . You can go 300 yard with no bites and catch 1 big one at the end

@@andyd834 really? Doesn’t help? Going to start flipping and punching… and everyone swears by snell although I’m a palomar guy.

What knot is that?
@Liz_Zervos Жыл бұрын
Based on the loop looks like a palomar. Possibly double. I could be mistaken though.
