"Mountain Greenery" was used in so many ingenious ways by Trude Rittman. This is such an informative video.

It just hit me that Sondheim working on ALLEGRO must have influenced him a bit years later with COMPANY as it takes place on protagonist Robert's 35th birthday and his various friend's takes on how HE should be happy.

It did 'Allegro' affected Sondheim deeply and it did influence him to write 'Company' he talked about it in interview, he was the 'go for' with 'Allegro'. It started his career.

@@stephencowley3661 He always was a Hammerstein protege.....except he wrote music as well...... Hammerstein must've known a BIT about musical scores though as he adapted the opera Carmen into Carmen Jones

@@maestroclassico5801 yes he was virtually adopted by the Hammerstein family he and Jaime being school friends much against his mother's wishes. Yes he must as you say he wrote 'Carmen Jones'

@@stephencowley3661 Yes it had right around 250 performances so around 9 months.....odd really Hammerstein was at his best adapting other's works...Me and Juliet and Allegro were entirely his! But Pipe Dream came from Steinbeck....(Interesting as this is RIGHT when Steinbeck's East Of Eden hit movie theaters)

I think South Pacific has more problems than Allegro has in Act 2. The latter Act 2 in SP feels like an Act 3 that never got off the ground or had time to develop and just hangs there with no where to go. I always blamed the movie but when I saw a couple of SPs in production, those flaws are staring at you in the face. I was very fortunate to have worked on the costume crew of a production of Allegro at Florida State University in the early '90s. Truly, it was a remarkable production with the BFA students at the time taking the leads and to this day, it's a definitive production in my mind and I hear those amazing singing voices and their dead on performances. Should have been transferred to off-broadway. It was done in a small intimate theater. I've always been a huge fan of the three R&H "bombs: Allegro, Me and Juliet and Pipe Dream. All terrific shows with near perfect scores.

I marvel at all your work! However, I am fairly certain that the amazing Miss Ritman's first name was more Germanic: Trew-duh (though the duh is barely pronounced). Humbly submitted.

I see that you have several series among your uploaded videos. Would it be possible for you to create and maintain a playlist for each series? That would be very helpful. Thank you.
