JUST THOUGHT I'D SHARE THIS WITH YOU: You and Cammie, Rose and Rosie, Stevie and many other LGBTQ+ influencers have helped so many people (including myself) by putting yourselves out there. There's literally a GENERATION of us that grew up watching you all and I'll never be able to thank you enough for all that you've done for me and the community. I'm from a country that has zero representation and even the public is pretty much anti-LGBTQ+ so it can get a little hard sometimes. But I can still get through those moments thanks to the person I've become also by watching you. Thank you and I love you 💜

I think your relationship helped young people who were questioning their sexuality and what that might look like. However, you were younger and didn't realize the effect that could occur if things didn't work out. You've also shown that you can work through tough times and get back to a happy place. Life is a learning experience.

This was a super cool and honest video. My girlfriend, Julia, is so far from a "social media person" and loves being very private and honestly it's nice because it takes me out of social media when we are on a date or travelling or whatever else... basically I don't think of moments with her as a moment to use on social media if that makes any sense and I like that that creates balance in my life because it's easy to get lost in the online world otherwise... thanks for being so candid!

I’m so glad you guys are happy now and I’m so grateful you shared your relationship, it was important for me at that time to see you in a happy lesbian relationship. That being said I totally understand your privacy, I’m sure it sucks going through a breakup and having thousands of people commenting how sad they are you broke up and saying they want you back together, you can only imagine that you must feel like you owe this people something. I’m glad you don’t share your personal business now, it’s a lot healthier for you and your relationships, I’m just happy with your content as long as we still get to see the beautiful Deb from time to time. Just wanted to say thanks so much for everything you've made over the years Shannon. Your channel, along with Kaelyn & Lucy's, were the two that helped me truly understand that - regardless of gender - love is love. I know it sounds cliche, but there really is a difference between being TOLD that "love is love", and repeating that politically correct phrase without thinking... compared to actually SEEING it for yourself, and being forced to come to the realization that there is fundamentally no difference between human relationships - regardless of gender. As someone who spent the early 2010's with an all-hetero friend group, I cannot overstate how important your videos were in shaping my understanding of relationships and love. I completely understand why you would not want to put your private life under such scrutiny a second time. Thank you for allowing your old videos to still remain visible. I hope they will continue to help others as they helped me.

It starts for me when you have a profile pic on WhatApp with your s. o. or when you constantly talk about them or bring them along to parties... The more private my relationships have been, the happier I was in those relationships. Maybe some people feel comfortable in public relationships but I don't. I talk about my s. o. as little as possible now, I don't have social media at all anymore (expect for WhatsApp, Signal and KZbin) and that's really nice. Sometimes when you have social media you tend to live your life for other people you always feel like you gotta show this or that. When you don't have it at all you just live for yourself. You 100% concentrate on things that YOU actually wanna do and that also goes for your relationship. Also the same thing you just said: The more people know, the more they speculate. It's paradox. You would think it's the other way around, but it's not. I don't want people to speculate about my relationship and I want to talk with them about other topics. Otherwise it would feel like I am around my s. o. 24/7 and never around my friends. Also like if people know too much they keep asking about that person even years later. Even if you're not a public figure. So I let people know that I'm in a relationship if they ask or flirt with me and that's it. There's not more to know than just that.
@kiap15 жыл бұрын
her public relationship was so important to me because watching them made me accept who i was and realize that it’s normal and okay and beautiful. that there are multiple ways to be gay, it’s not a mold, which i really thought it was, as stupid as it sounds. following their life here on youtube made me realize that i didn’t have to look or act in a certain way. so thank you shannon, for i wouldn’t be the person i am today without your ’little’ help❤️🏳️🌈
@teambellavsteamalice5 жыл бұрын
I think it's a good choice to be strictly private and loosen up later when ready. By gradually dropping the filter (and the effort and stress that gives) you can then have a semi-public relationship neither hiding nor broadcasting it.

I completely respect anyones decision to filter anything they'd like to from the internet. What I don't understand is why it has to be one extreme or the other. I know there was a huge negative impact from sharing SO much from your public relationship, but why does that mean you can't share anything? I mean just a mention every so often about whether you are dating someone right now would be helpful to some people. Either way, I respect whatever decision works best for you. I just think there could be a middle ground there.

reading the comments just make me wonder how a person a.k.a Shannon, Cam, Roses, and many other youtubers are meant to be the world’s part of history. sharing your personal life have changed so much people personally. and it was great! knowing that you now keep some things private is not gonna change things at all. cause you’ve done what you should have done at the first place. and that’s enough. right now, if people still confused or questioning about their personality or sexual orientation or just curious about the theory of LGBTQ+, they can just easily looking for your old videos which still related to these days, these moments, this era. thanks for always be positive and sending it virtually. I don’t know why, among many other LGBTQ+ youtuber, I still find you the best. how you support the community regardless of how much profit you could earn from each video because all I see is that your purpose is only to encourage people to get to know theirselves better and be proud of it. (especially your video with you Christian Dad. it makes me realize I could be someone who I really am and still have faith in God. (in short, still a bi and also a Christian.) because it’s been years I prayed my SSA away and it never happened) sometimes I want to be like you and the other youtubers lol. but yea I also am a big believer and I believe people have their own destiny and they have their own role in this world and how they’re gonna be. keep creating beautiful things!! and God bless you

I haven't watched a Shannon video in SO long. Honestly, I really enjoyed this one, for many many reasons. People can sometimes forget that... We're all just human beings, navigating our feelings and dealing with lives and situations. Like, I can barely deal with my own on a day to day. So, when you are in the public eye like this. Not only are you dealing with your own battles, but when something like a breakup happens, now you've got people you don't actually know with all their opinions. And not that they aren't allowed to feel a certain way, I think all the LGBTQIA+ KZbinrs have has a tremendous affect on the community. Showing the world. "Hey, we're here too." Which we needed. And 6 years ago especially. So yeah, there is that. This huge role they play in peoples lives. BUT, they are people too, with their own lives, it's not a character they are playing. How many of us share every single aspects of ourselves with everyone? I certainly don't. Anyway, I rambled on wayyyy longer than I meant to. But, remember to be kinder, be more understanding, and think about how you'd feel if it were you.

I've seen several public relationships, and I notice that people observing them tend to become very invested in them BECAUSE they see enough to get deeply invested, but not enough to really get the full picture. They get the entertaining lovey-dovey part, and even if there's "public trouble in paradise", it's usually shown online in a way that makes the whole thing romanticized. The viewers fill in the gaps in their heads, which is very natural to do, but we should always remember that the gaps are result and projection of our own experiences and hopes, and things we have seen or read others to experience. That is when you get to the level of "I cried more of their breakup than my own" because that is when the viewer projects too much. Even if we happen to fill the gaps correctly, OR the people actually show and tell EVERYTHING (almost impossible but anyway) we can never be another person and know how they feel, and we should never tell anyone HOW they should feel. Chemistry and relations are complicated and always changing. Sorry for the long and possibly messy text because English is not my first language.

And what i got from that was to fully accept me for who i was and not being ashamed for it. I really believe that what you represent is move than "showing" with whom you date. That really isn't important. It is good for representation and it really helped me but, you are a human being who deserves privacy. I believe and i feel that, what you represent as an individual is all we need. Because it is genuine and that is enough. In terms of relationship, oh well, who cares? As long you are truly happy. The world deserves happiness and love, no judment and hate. We are tried of that. Much love shannon! Thank you for being the role model i always needed. Much love! 😊😊😊😊😊

@@thealpha7848 Why the sad emoji though? That's life. You date, you break up, you find someone else. Nothing to be sad about. Most people don't stay with the same person their entire life and tbh that sounds boring af to me.

I think it's important to keep things like this private. You have to have a life out of social media. When everyone knows every part of your life, they try and control it. This is a huge part of something no one else should be in control of. I hope you're enjoying your relationship with whomever it is (however, I would be shocked if it wasn't Cari). Also, who else is LOVING Fletcher's new song? If You're Gonna Lie, and Undrunk are the songs of my summer for sure.

I really just want to say THANK YOU for mentioning and validating polyamory. Just that little nonchalant comment seriously means so much to know that you're accepting and may even encourage someone else to become accepting. You'd be so surprised how many people even within the LGBT+ community are very hateful toward polyamory, so thank you.

Thanks for talking about this Shannon. I definitely understand why you don’t share your relationships. I hope you get to a place where you can be comfortable being and that you’re a normal person who explores and makes mistakes and it’ll be natural to share the next person. Love you!!!

Thank you for being so honest and open about everything :3 For me, personally, I love it when you make these kinds of videos. You're just talking about things that affect you and share your opinions on them. Obviously the Q&A part makes it less initial from your side, but to our excitement you chose to record a video on the topics. :) Hope you know that we all support you no matter what topics you decide to share or not to, no matter how few times you upload a video (lmao) or get stressed out while filming. We can see that you're doing your utmost best and love you for it :3. Hopefully you get around to reading this even though it got really long. This Video felt like old Shannon sharing her feelings on apples and bananas again :3. Cheers to more awesomely honest Q&As and lovely new Shannon being the best version of herself. Sincerely, thefishwholovessushi❤️

I am in the same boat as you Shannon. As much as I would love to share my love life with my amazing Fiancé, my past relationships ruined that because there is so much pressure and stress that when things went south people will bug the shit out of you. If it is shared publicly then everyone will have their own opinion of your relationship, even though it is no one's business. That is why I choose what to share and what not to share w/ my family and friends because I do not want that same thing to happen again. I'm so happy for you Shannon and there is nothing wrong with you wanting to keep your relationship to yourself.

I’m currently in the same position. I was in a public relationship (obviously not as public as yours) but we posted all over social media even our fights. It became extremely toxic which is why I decided to not post about my significant other everywhere. Only to the point where people know I’m with someone. It’s definitely different but soooo refreshing.

I totally respect that you want to keep who you are dating private, cause its really not our biz but i get that people are curious but its important that they respect you when you say that you dont want to talk about it, cause if you 're not dating that person it could actually hurt more when people asks about them
@justpaigem5 жыл бұрын
good job beveridge! very well said, people will never stop asking but this is loud and clear and it’s about time certain people start respecting/understanding that! all i want is for you to be happy! love & miss you lady!

I think a big problem with public relationships is the concept of shipping reallife people. You should absolutely never do it. Even if like a celebrity couple is married I don't ship them. Shipping is for the fictional world where you have information and you know pretty much all about the characters. You can't apply that to real people. I can't judge a person's life just by their instagram story. Idk for me that annoys me the most. It makes me uncomfortable without even being affected by it. Same goes like for actors that play a couple on screen. When the fandom starts to analyse every little thing they post and write comments of requesting them to be together I cringe. I think relationships can be public but it's a fine line between living in a public relationship and feeling like you are living in a relationship for the public even if that wasn't your intention.
@TheDisneyGirl50005 жыл бұрын
I agree with you (I know this was six months ago), I would never "ship" real human beings.
