Very useful in night games. I had a guy using such a device during a forest night game and he was unstoppable, he killed everyone in his path, including the enemy general, thus winning the game. To bad they are soooooooooo expensive.

Yeah, thermal is a pretty good equalizer when it comes night time...

Awesome walkthrough! Thanks for the time and effort you put into this. I'm looking for a similar kit for myself. Still struggeling to decide if I should get an NVD or the flir breach..

I got both, they have pros and cons, the main con is target acquistion as with NV you can use a IR laser, with thermal there is no equivalent. As a 'seeing' what NV can't see it is awesome, we tend to end up using it as a spotting option when we just can't make out something with NV when it is super dark, or when we just can't make out the target under NV.

Just found this, have been using one too for past year, great review and thanks for taking the time on it. Have you managed to update the firmware, seems tricky in UK but I think may resolve issues re: battery usage? In the video you were using as a spotter, still the case or moved onto helmet mounting? I use dual mounted with a PVS14 and external battery as counterweight. I've noticed a downside is lack of depth perception compared to guys with dual tube NV (who move faster) but I think the thermal advantage makes up for it.

I haven't managed to find a way as of yet of updating the firmware, but tbh, I've not spent much time looking into it for a while.

What mount are you using to weapon mount ?
@AndSome6250284 жыл бұрын
My biggest issue with Flir is their mounting systems. Things like bridge mounts are expensive, inferior in functionality and construction to most commercially available counterparts , and worst of all - scarcely available outside the US.
@AzrelSutcliffe4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, their mountings are hard to come by, I've been after a Picatinny mount for ages and cannot find one anyplace. Cost are stupid expensive too when you do find them, they are even stupid expensive in the US too so at least that is consistent.

Are you able to spot enemy in the daylight effectively?
@AzrelSutcliffe5 жыл бұрын
Yes, works equally well day or night.. You may need to tweak settings in high temperature daytime environments to help equalise the differences in temps but it does work in day time.

How do you manage to protect the lens?
@mugene5 жыл бұрын
most thermal units glass are "bb proof" might leave a scuff mark so you will have to just use a cloth and clean it thats how it is with my flir ocean tk scout that was at about 20 feet with a 2.3 joules with .36 gram bb's so im pre sure it should be fine but if you are really worried you can always buy a IR Thermal Imaging Lenses online from various sites then make a thing that u can attack to the front of the thermal imager so you will have a sacrificial lenses on the front say via 3d printer or what ever means u can muster even taping it on the front would work honestly hope that sorta helps lol

To be honest, never had a strike on the device when using in darkness, no one is that accurate.. The actual lens on the Breach is pretty small target wise. I don't think you can put a sacrificial lens in front as it will mess with the 'optics' as thermal has a hard time 'seeing' through things like glass at the best of times, but your mileage my vary. Personally I use it more as spotting device these days and don't mount on my helmet but take from my pocket as needed.. Though I am thinking of weapon mounting in front of a red dot soon.
@offffofof4 жыл бұрын
@@AzrelSutcliffe I was thinking mounting it on the helmet, so the chance of getting hit on the lens should be very high. Let say nothing happen for 5 years, but after 5 years it got hit. It still pain in the as to see it cracking.
@AzrelSutcliffe4 жыл бұрын
The lens is pretty small, plus on a helmet I wouldn't say it has a high chance of being hit. At night, it would be more a slim chance given the environment, day time it may have a slightly higher chance, but headshots would be more fluke than design to hit it.. The problem is you can't cover the lens with glass, as it will disrupt the ability to see heat.. I may do a short video on this, there are lots of videos on YT about this sort of thing, but it may be worth doing a demo for this use case to show.
