What resolution and lens size is the unit you tested? I didn't hear it mentioned in the review.

Great video very informative! but I have not seen published anywhere and also in the video whether the camera is Radiometric - meaning is it possible to extract Temperature values from the pixels in stills pictures?

+אגריקם חישה מרחוק וצילומי אוויר Greetings! I'm actually in Los Angeles right now at IDE, so I went by the FLIR booth and asked them for the answer to your question. In short, no, the FLIR Vue Pro does not provide radiometric data. However, the full story is slightly more complicated -- they Vue and Vue Pro are based on the FLIR Tau2 core, which is capable of yielding radiometric data. However, it was designed to work at a range of 10 feet (think of a guy with a hand-held unit inspecting a circuit panel, for example). The camera would work the same on a drone, but FLIR isn't comfortable that they could give you a level of confidence associated with that radiometric data when the subject is 100 or 200 feet away -- say, on board a drone. They want to be able to tell you that the indicated temperature is accurate within two degrees (or five degrees, or whatever), and the testing to make that determination is still ongoing. In short, stay tuned...

Great video but it would be nice if you could do a followup in the dead of night where there is very little ambient light. Thanks!
@alexburnside78386 жыл бұрын
AeroviewUSA ambient light makes no difference to a thermal camera as it isn’t viewing visible light, though in daylight the ground is hotter so I guess it would be a slightly different view :)

How do you integrate FLIR VUe Pro to MAVLink and/or use GPS tagging for aerial mapping?

Thanks for the great review. Can you possibly share some image acquired by the sensor? I am particularly interested in 14-bit RAW images (.FFF files would be fantastic!)

Am I correct in assuming that the older, NON-Pro version of the Vue does not have the ability to change palettes or settings via remote or Bluetooth? That I have to connect to a PC in order to do so?

+Roswell Flight Test Crew - When you set the Electronics up on this Thermal Camera you want to be certain to allow for a future purchase of a Remote Control that allows you to control the Thermal Camera's settings from the ground. - When you physically mount the Thermal Camera to a Drone with another RGB Camera you want to align *both* Cameras precisely. IF you have a Gimbal then you _would_ _want_ *both* Cameras on the *same* Gimbal - that means the Gimbal *must* be powerful enough to take the weight of both Cameras. -

Hello. I just I got a Flir vue pro. but I need to trigger single photos by a raspberry or Arduino. do you know a similar project that I can follow. Thanks
@ddegn2 жыл бұрын
Have you got this working? If you can control a servo with a Raspbery Pi or an Arduino, you should be able to control this camera. I don't use the Raspberry Pi much but I'm sure I could help with the Arduino.

Curious, you mentioned that bring a 30 fps camera to Europe is a no, no and you will get locked up. Why is this? I understand they are on 50 Hz and understand fps here and in Europe but why would one get locked up in their jail system? Thanks in advance

It has to do with exporting military grade equipment. I think the initials are ITAR.

Great review, unless used in a professional way, I could see the only way I would have one would be if I was a guy that had everything and needed it for my collection.
@Roswellflighttestcrew19479 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Smith Yeah, it's definitely a niche item... Not everybody needs an airborne thermal imaging sensor. However, for the folks who do need them -- like our friends in the public safety community -- it can be a literal lifesaver. As I type this, I'm in the middle of putting together another FLIR video which talks a bit about other applications: utility inspection, crop management, and so forth -- but, as you suggest, not something every single one of us needs.

@Roswellflighttestcrew19479 жыл бұрын
+leeslabyrinth The 7.5 hz version should be available in Canada. I'd suggest checking with one of the retailers who is carrying the FLIR Vue Pro. Here is a link to the list on FLIR's website: www.flir.com/vuepro/ Scroll down and click on the "Buy" button on the right side of the screen, and you'll see a list of distributors. I'm sure they'll be well-versed in the intricacies of the export rules.

+Roswell Flight Test Crew i assume when the Zenmuse XT comes out DJI will ship direct from China to anywhere in the world, so us Canadian may still be able to get the 30fps
@AWMDroneServices9 жыл бұрын
+Adam Mcconaghy nevermind I guess only us Canadians are allowed to get them besides the U.S.
