This was such an adorable scene. Their budding loves shines through and makes you feel the sentiments are real despite it being a drama. They are such superlative actors. I have watched many dramas, Chinese and Korean, and I must say, this one has become my #1 favorite, superseding my previous favorite. I'm STILL having trouble getting over it and moving on to other dramas. Nothing quite measures up.

This couple is so hard to beat in terms of their unfailing love for each other. Even when they were apart everyone could tell they were bereft of each other and were just walking corpses. Buyi would marry no other but Niao Niao could be paired up with someone else, but it wouldn't be the same and it wouldn't be for love, just companionship. The only couples I can think of is from Go Into Your Heart, My Little Happiness, Put Your Head On My Shoulder, You Colored My World, Ashes of Love, Love Between Fairy and Devil, and Mysterious Love to name a few. There are so many...and I'm glad there are so many examples of loving couples that no matter what, are proof love can be true between 2 people and they'll walk through Hell for each other. There are too many examples of the opposite and bad ones.

I love how they were telling us in this gradual build just how much Shaoshang wanted to kiss Ling Buyi. 😚😁😏 It starts the moment they zoom into Ling Buyi's lips, angle being from Shaoshang's eye level, him drinking Shaoshang's wine and then Shao (not able resist touching him) wipes the few wine drops from his chin and lips. Then it gradually escalates her drinking wine from his cup, them sharing the wine from his cup (now touched by both their lips, in a way they can kiss on the lips in their setting without actually kiss). Then hits peak her boldly actually kissing him (on the cheek) right there in the middle of court with all the nobles and Emperor & Empress right there. Scandalous for those times and yet Shao loves Ling Buyi so much and again telling us she's so attracted to him in that moment from all these building clues, she couldn't help herself in the end. Still runs off all sweet and shy though for being so bold. I love her and love their chemistry, I really hope those actors act in something else together again. Maybe just one movie addendum to LLTG so we can see Shaoshang pregnant and see Yisheng's kids 🙏

@@Hwanisti Well, I believe the scene where the two of them fell on the bed happened the night before the banquet because in the next episode, someone mention Niao Niao was pushed into the lake a day before the banquet and it was implied that he practiced overnight after Niao Niao asked him to play (it was what she asked him to promise to do for her that night but the director didn’t show what she asked him) but I am not sure if the scene of her actually asking him and him practicing the qin overnight was cut or it was left out deliberately to make the storytelling subtle and indirect. If you understand what I mean :)

first half of this clip till 4:43 was an interesting exchange of glances between crown prince, crown princess consort, 3rd prince & 5th princess from an outside peering into the room a storm is most definitely brewing ready to strike at any moment. It is interesting that a couple is allowed to kiss in public (in those ancient times) and so much attention was focused on said kiss. The camera angle concentrating on LBY's face change was funny yet sweet as he is starting to soften up from his years of hardening his heart and feelings due to hatred and revenge.

It is a special moment. Being in court at such a young age is fighting in a snake pit. After loosing his own clan, I think he loves fighting in the open on the battlefield more than in court where there are backstabbers in each corner. Even his friendship with the Third Prince is secret. He won’t or can’t depend on his relationship with the Emperor or others. Having this pure and unruly girl next to him, making him feel not only confident but relaxed and happy, is a big deal and more than he hoped for.

This emperor can not be beat he just can't. His little nuances just made him to be this special part of the show. Both him and the empress loved these two so much in some cases more than their own. If they could have chosen their own these two would have been it. The only one that comes close to Zisheng is the third prince and the one we knew the least about. A tender heart with a backbone of steel is what our Shaoshang was and throw in the little girl voice and people expect this gentle demure woman. That is not what she was she was made for our beloved General and it was going to take someone very special for him to open his heart to. She did that with a finger pointing out of a carriage and nailed it on the lantern festival. What the general never expected was on the same night he fell in love so did two others. The stage is set
