Great video Flite Test. This is one of the best demonstration videos of this platform yet. It is a god concept and Horizon Hobby seems to have pulled off the concept fairly decently. As an avid flyer of both quads and fixed winged Rc platforms here are my thoughts on this product. - From what I have been hearing. The BNF version is restricted to Specktrum type receivers only. - Even the PNP versions do not offer true receiver variability with their FC. They are a lot of Taranis users out there. - The motors seem to draw a huge amount of power [particularly in hover mode] thus resulting in a limited flight time. If they [HH] can come out with improvements that doubled the flight time with making the PNP version truly variable in its FC to receiver compatibility, they will definitely have a winner on their hands.

Absolutely love my convergence, but check your servo arms before pushing this thing too hard. I had one snap a few months back while doing a high speed pass. The un-controlled motor flipped up and the whole plane freaked out into a massive air brake...the other servo stripped out when the plane hit the ground upside down, and some foam broke off, but it was otherwise undamaged. I replaced the servos with metal geared versions using circular arms (hoping for extra strength), and it's back to its old tricks. Love this thing so much :)

Started getting into RC a little over a few months back. A lot of the vids I watched where done by FliteTest and further got me wanting a plane of my own. I avoided Jets as they'd be far to fast to start on and avoided drones as they just don't interest me. Down the line I saw this video and about two week back brought my own Convergence BnF PnP. A DX6e Transmitter with an AR610 reciever. And finally a 3000mah 11.1v 3s 10c Multistar Turnigy. This is admittedly my first PnP but I'm having an odd issue with it. The flight mode can changes and I can also pivot the two front props. But my Ailerons and Throttle wont respond. I've downloaded and redownloaded the set up for the Transmitter and things should be fine there. (even checked it against the manual and binding is fine) I got to see the Ailerons move automatically on one of the reconnects so I know they can move. So I'm puzzled as to why nothing seems to be working when it should all be fine. Could it be that the Multistar Turningy 10c is to low? (though I saw a representative say in a video lower c works better in drones and multi rotars?. or perhaps something might just be oddly faulty? I'm at a real lose here so if anyone could help this green horn out I'd appreciate that a lot, cause this thing looks like a blast, past the number of issues it seems to have against it online.

Flite test is a leader in RC and have helped spawn many into the hobby and I recommend them to everyone. I love the videos but I never understand why they use the fastest herky jerky quad to do the in air coverage videos. The only decent footage is from the tripod camera on the ground. They used to use the tri copters and quads and quads that David and Flitetest designed. They aren't probably quite as fast or fun but a much better video platform for in air coverage to me. Just a suggestion if they ever read this . Keep up the excellent work.

Good evening FliteTest, I am trying to make an RC plane that has many propellers on it's main wing to enhance effieciency (good flow over and under wing, V-173 concept). I have an RC quadcopter with many propellers, and I am wondering if it is possible to convert the board to allow 3 axis movement and thrust to create a plane with four engines. Thank you for your time,

First flight with mine transitioning from tri-copter to fixed wing, the tail rotor went to max and the plane nose planted into the ground. Horizon support no help at all. They want me to send the whole plane in at my cost and won't bother helping me troubleshoot locally. I really liked Horizon until now. I'm off their products now due to poor support. Love your channel - always so informative.

Personally I think the STOL from eflight is great for begginners. they did an episode on that one a few months back, and had a competition to see who could land it in the shortest space. it has leading edge slats on the wings so it can fly really slow. it also comes with a set of really nice floats. its called the Timberwolf

Wish the rear motor was two smaller motors and housed in pivoting ducts with Extensions on the bottom side and flat exterior faces front and back so when transitioned, they leave a smooth surface top and bottom and direct air out the rear of craft. Hell, the front motors could be similar in design and pivot at the leading edge of the wing with the nozzle expelling it’s air at the trailing edge of the wing. Might have to get me some balsa...

What about someone who has quad experience but not much flight? Would this be a good plane for that person?
@modelrc95006 жыл бұрын
Aaron Williams not really since you’ll find yourself using the quad mode more than anything else. Get a sport cub s instead, easy to fix and it’s ok if you torpedo bomb into the ground because you’ll only lose $130 instead of $249.99
