Im surprised that terminal is open lots of greyhound stations are closing down they are going to curbside pick up.

Flixbus/Greyhound are selling off their bus terminals, but are still leasing space at city owned and operated bus terminals or with combined train stations. They have no desire to staff a bus terminal or hire janitorial staff or hire mechanics. They only desire to hire drivers. They want you to buy your tickets online at their website. Hiring and sustaining staff is expensive... We are living in 2024, not 1954...

Greyhound is owned by Flixbus...ever since then, service is from bad to worst. A lot of the runs are also operated by Charter Bus Companies that Flixbus contracts with. Flixbus sold most of the Greyhound stations and property. Some stops dont even have a bus shelter or in very bad areas. Also, you have charter bus companies that run the service with Flixbus branded wrapped buses. Looks like the bus you were on is operated by a Charter Bus Company called Star Shuttle, Inc. If you had a connection somewhere, There is not really any correlation if a connecting bus, which may be a greyhound branded Flixbus is running late. The way Flixbus writes the schedules are unrealistic with No breaks Flixbus is runned very different from what it is in europe. Several years ago, I used to drive some of the FlixBus routes on the west coast. The schedules are unrealistic and seems like they used Google Maps to write the scheules.

Yes, my stop in Dallas was off a side road. I wasn’t expecting that at all.

@@thewilderexperience1946 Greyhound, or should I say Flixbus, SOLD the Dallas Greyhound downtown station. Slowly but surely they are selling all of the Greyhound stations across America that isn't included with a city operated bus or train station. Flixbus has NO desire to pay property taxes, preferring to pay the least amount of rent as possible. Simply put, for a national bus company to compete with the low cost airlines, they have to have similar policies, especially concerning paying property taxes. No bus terminal, no terminal employees, no terminal janitorial services, no terminal maintenance, and no terminal property taxes. Expect to be dropped off on a city street... Write your city council to build a city owned and operated bus terminal or combined with a train station. While they are still hiring drivers, as they sell off their bus terminals they have been laying off their mechanics preferring to shop around for truck garage mechanics too.

@@thewilderexperience1946 Bus travel is mostly dead. Has been since the mid-1980s. Only the most desperate people take any intercity bus these days.

Yes, it was pretty cheap. I think I paid $80 for my ticket.

You're lucky you get to wait in a building. Greyhound has closed/sold most of the stations and these days the "stations" are nothing more than a curb side stop or a parking lot. I have taken Greyhound twice in the last year and found that there was no station at either the beginning of my trip or at my destination. Both were in a parking lot. The station you were at may well be dirty, but if it were raining at least you'd be dry.

That’s a result of flix bus business plan. In Europe that’s primarily how flix does there stops so that’s what there going to with greyhound

This company is completely garbage. My bf was travelling to Buffalo airport from Toronto and the bus broke down at the US-Canadian border. This company hired clowns as customer service representatives who hung up on her when she called and refused to give her a refund. She had to spend almost $100 for Uber to the airport and had to pay extra to move her flight. I did my research and heard this is quite common with flix as well as peoples luggages getting stolen and unsafe drivers. I have encouraged her to file a law suit as they left her stranded in the middle of nowhere and she missed her flight. I pray everyday this trash company goes out of business

Flix Bus Is CHEAPER than Greyhound, but Greyhound goes EVERYWHERE, Flixbus does NOT

Everywhere? Hardly. Over the years, since 2004 Greyhound has cut probably 70% of the service it had. It is pathetic, but a reflection of the fact that bus travel is basically dead. Only the deep desperados take the bus these days.

Everywhere? There used to be a Greyhound route running through my small town, but not anymore. Greyhound runs along interstate highways presently or slightly off to university towns connecting major cities and universities, not to rural communities. Furthermore, Greyhound no longer competes with the trains for package deliveries, it is all USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon presently. How could Greyhound offer package delivery service when there is no bus depot or service to my small town? We are living in 2024, not 1954...

Thank you for documenting this. What has happened to intercity bus transport in the US is shocking. You should know what company is operating the coach. Dropping off passengers on "some random street" should be illegal and actionable, as it could be dangerous. If the operators can't afford to build minimal terminals, they should be shut down. (Flixbus didn't sell the Greyhound terminals, but they didn't buy them either.)

It's a 'random' street to this reviewer because apparently she didn't check where the drop off point was when booking the ticket. The website tells you the exact location of pick up and drop off points. If it was truly random then how would people know where to go to get on the bus because the drop off points are also pick up points.
