This man is one of the greatest modern blues musicians ever I always said Gregg s voice is like a shepherd calling his own. He calls and they come bless you maybe someday in heaven we can do a jam together Amen 🙏

My Nephew and I went to see The Greg Allman Band in Kansas City at one of the local casinos, it was after this record had come out, I think it was called LOW COUNTRY BLUES, anyway he was terrific, his voice was strong and his playing was tremendous, I had seen Greg several times since the 1970s but this was one of his best shows, I loved this song and if you get the chance read his book NOT MY CROSS TO BEAR , great read

The legendary sailor greg allman a highly underrated great we might've lost but he's still with us if you listen you can still hear him, they should teach college music history 101. would've loved to make a presentation about him. This cat lived a musical legacy.

Man, give me the Sleepy John Estes version any day. Less refined yes, but it has 10,000x the soul of this whitewashed cover. He should have let it be.

Thank the Lord, SOMEBODY knows where it is at! I guarantee you, Mr. Allman never nearly lost his life on some back road and a damned floating bridge coming home in the dark from some joint after playing all night for $3 and a fish sandwich. And he ruins the lyrics. I recollect Mr. John singing ''My mother often told me, please quit playin' in the bars/ Go somewhere, settle down, and make a crop.'' Like John Estes mama would have called him a bum! Her son was about as famous as a black man could be in that damned Jim Crow South. That's Hammie Nixon on the blues harp. Two of them make more blues and soul than that whole band. I could live with it, if he had just taken a minute and said a few words about the man. I always did when I borrowed some Blues. In fact, the people couldn't hardly get me to shut up from my carrying on about Son House, Booker White, Charlie Patton, and Jimmy Reed!

This song was from Low Country Blues, a celebration of music from the country where Sleepy John came from, it was a song for him, Allman had a tragic life on his own, father murdered trying to help a soldier on leave , brother killed in a motorcycle wreck, drugs, liver cancer, he was a great singer but a flawed man

@@westsidesmitty1You should listen to Low Country Blues, the record this song was on, it's a celebration of the life of people in that country , he talks about Estes on the notes, it's a wonderful story about he admired Estes and other blues singers , he was a great singer and a flawed man
