Sam Jones it is electronic music no doubt about that. But the abbreviated EDM is a genre within this that the likes of deadmau5 and steve aoki fall under. Floating points doesnt fall under the EDM category. Its hard to give floating points a genre other than electronic music because hes doing his own thing. It has elements of jazz, deep house, techno. I aint going to be one of these genre hipsters, but i fucking hate edm and that scene so had to say something haha
