Nail on the head comment about going back and seeing places in a different season.. Winter can display so much more, without the obstructive leaves on trees. The "niggles" of getting older. We tend to deny them, but they carry on, and in the end they will win. Injuries take longer to heal, and other aches and pains pop up. Keep doing what you are doing - enjoy life as much as you can, while you can.

I follow many of the Narrowboat channels, including this one. They appeal to a certain fantasy we have of freedom, abandoning the constraints of our housebound lives. The British canals are wild yet safe and small at the same time. I wonder if we’ll see the effects of Covid-19 on this little world, or if fantasy and reality will collide. Will stay tuned.

We have spent the last few weeks going through all your vlogs from day one and have still quite a lot more to watch yet, before we reach your latest vlog. We just wish we were at the age you are, but now both in our mid seventies, it's a bit too late in our lives to take to living afloat on a permanent basis, as we are not as agile as we were twenty years ago. However we can still enjoy exploring our beautiful countryside with you both on your travels. Reflecting on this episode of your favourite l canals, takes me back to the 1970s when I was involved with the restoration of the Caldon Canal around Cheddleton, where we then lived. This canal back then was in a very sad state and for us is now one of the nicest canals in the country. We are so glad you managed to get through Froghall Tunnel, although not very long, is I belive, the lowest navigable tunnel in the country. We now live in Tamworth near to where Richards brother lives at Fazely. We have two sons and two grandchildren who still live in Leek and Cheddleton, so we often manage to walk the Caldon and go for a pint in the Boat Inn as well as the remote Black Pub at Consall Forge and the steam railway. Whilst writing this, I just realised we had not subscribed, but we have now and will be following you from now on. You are a lovely couple and thank you for sharing your adventure with us, we are thouroughly enjoying it. Oh and congratulations on your wedding last year. All the Best and stay safe. Geoff & Wendy.

We love watching land yacht videos. It's our escape
@dennischeslock77824 жыл бұрын
The reason I don't drive my motorhome (land yacht) around the country (U.S.)is I spent over 35++ yrs driving trackers/trailers all over the U.S. and Canada. I've driven well over 15 million miles in my lifetime. That why I don't do travel video here on KZbin. There's thousands of people that are going it. Right now I'm just enjoying my retirement,and living in me m/h so I'm not paying rent on apartment (flat). I have all the room I need to live. A livingroom,galley,full bathroom, and a large bedroom all in an area 7.5feet by 29 feet not much wider,but not as long as your narrow boat. So if had a 30ft or a 32ft it would be awesome. Ok I'll get back to you soon. Dennis from Delaware U.S.A

Suggestion. What if you sold the house and bought you a new boat, but keep your current boat and use it as your income. It would always be on the cut and so would you. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. lol. Or is there a market for that sort of thing? Just thinking. :-)

My goodness that’s gone in the blink of an eye! Proof the old saying “time flies when you’re enjoying yourself “ is true 😁 I wonder what Boatman Ben is up to these days. Every time I see your boat I love it, it’s so homely. I think the sell or stay really depends on the size. If you believe Constanza is big enough for you to enjoy life over the next 10 to 20 years, stay and do the improvements you want. However, if you have any doubts about her size I would sell, unless you feel up to stretching her! We made enquiries about adding 7 to 8 foot to our 45 foot boat and it was roughly £1k per foot then but then the questions of power for a bigger boat begin to complicate things. Our engine was OK and to be honest I’d be happy with candle light! There some decent second hand boats on the market at about 50k at the moment and I was almost tempted to look at one a couple of weeks ago but I forced myself to look away because I know with my parents at 89 and 90 the only people to benefit from the purchase would be a marina. I live in hope that in the future I will have another boat so Me and the dogs can get away from it all. As always thanks for sharing your adventure. I hope Rich is on the mend and that his liver is surviving the treatment! x

You guys should run a holiday on a boat adventure just like homestay concept where people get to witness organic lifestyle and live in a narrow boat. Its will be a fantastic treat for those people wanting to see and experience real England. It also gives an opportunity for people to learn a bit about British Canal history. We have had a boat moored at Furness Vale about 10 yrs ago but had to give it up because we had very sulky teenagers! Just this week we have secured our boat and cant wait to get back on the cut....you are inspiring us so thank you!! We will moor on the peak forest canal if possible or the macc canal. I think that's your best video yet. It's been great following your adventures. I've loved being able to hear of your development as you've learnt about things going along. It's also noticeable how you've both become more comfortable in front of the camera. For this film it honestly felt like I was on the boat and you were both just talking to me like friends I've never actually met. I imagine that exploring the areas you pass is imperative to making the whole transfer from landlubbers to boaters work. If you don't there could be a danger of developing tunnel vision, stagnating, becoming board with the whole thing and feeling that the grass is greener living in bricks and mortar. For domestic reasons I will probably never live on a canal boat, so I'm making the most of living vicariously through your vlogs and may there be many more. Cheers
