FLOOD DISASTER leaves "field of rubble" in Poland - Danger in Germany due to peak and approaching flood
The flooding on the Oder and Elbe continues to cause great concern. Crisis teams are active in Brandenburg and Saxony, while Poland and the Czech Republic have suffered massive damage. The city of Wroclaw is particularly in focus, where residents remember the devastating flood 27 years ago. In Lądek-Zdrój, a dam on the Kłodzko Neisse broke and flooded entire streets. Soldiers and firefighters are helping with evacuations and clean-up work, while looters are profiting from the chaos. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is calling for further EU aid. Water levels are also continuing to rise in Germany, especially in the Brandenburg region, where residents are already filling sandbags to protect against the impending flood.
