Some amazing footage there Todd! Never underestimate the power of flood water and the damage that it can cause. The guy in the Fortuner was clearly going too fast and may also have hit a pothole or some debris. Glad that your second house is ok. What about that new hotel and the older one that you stayed at on the river front. The water was pretty high then! Lovely pool that you have found near to Mina's school. ideal for her to relax in after a hard day after school. The dentist looks amazing and so cheap too, no doubt the tooth fairy as already visited Mina. Made me laugh when you didn't get Neenee's joke about the road signs! Stay safe and keep dry, God bless the 3 of you. 😀❤🙏

Todd, you are fortunate enough to be far enough inland that at most you’ll only get level 1 hurricane winds, maybe. Less than 2 years ago a category 5 hurricane made landing not far from my home in Cape Coral, FL. It was a near 5 when it came through my city and Fort Myers, not to mention ocean surges here at sea level. The area is still trying to recover. Anyway, your entire Capitol region in Lao is outgrowing it’s infrastructure. Added roads, parking lots, and homes will make flooding much worse without good planning. Fast growth in flood prone areas is a disaster, and the City of Bonita Springs in my county is a perfect example. Vientiane may not have the luxury of enough non usable space for water retention areas to reduce flooding every time it rains like we have. You guys have to plan, it’s your Capitol.

Great to see updates through your videos. People like me really enjoyed watching from the comfort of my home. I'm glad your family is doing very well. I felt really bad for those affected by the floods. Hopefully many lives were saved. The land looks so flat no higher grounds. All in all hope everyone was safe. 👍🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for the update Todd, so sad to see ordinary hard working poor people living from day to day losing everything they've built and possess.😥🙏 If my current news sources are correct a 7th country in Central Europe are also suffering the effects of major flooding and now the muddy Danube is bursting its banks in places. It's been a humid wet summer and a brighter and warmer than usual start to autumn here in the Arctic Circle. Good see you're taking no risks crossing flooded roads, and Mina's dental problems being remedied. 👍🏻

Typhoons are devastating to so many people who live in Asia. Good to see Mina getting those pesky choppers out. You all stay safe, Todd.

I think that even adding the cost of air travel, restaurants, et al., that I would end up paying less for dentistry if I travel from California to Vientiane to see your dentist. I even have something they call "dental insurance" in the U.S., but in Los Angeles, it is worth a few pennies more than absolutely nothing. Airfare to Lao would be more valuable dental insurance. Another fantastically entertaining and informative video Todd - even under circumstances wrought by the seasonal storms. You know you're living a good life when even a typhoon brings another occasion for a fun family outing! I don't get the opportunity to see many of your videos, so what a happy surprise to see how well Mina is picking up English in such a short period of time. But, not really a surprise. I predicted she'd be a lightning fast learner of English and other subjects she needed to catch up on when she came to live with you and Neenee.
@NowinLaoАй бұрын
@@kikovazquez7277 Yeah, she puts me to shame! She's all caught up now and in the top of her class. Instead of staying back after school classes to catch up, she's elected to stay back and do extra English classes. The girl just loves to learn! 💚 Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated 🙏

They have the lemon/lime confusion in Thailand too. Along with the confusion over whisky and rum. ("Thai whiskey" is rum. It even says "rum" on the label, but they still call it whiskey!)

@@chrisperkins7331 last time I had a septic tank it's got a vent and outlet...or they different in Laos...? What happens when they under water...?
@chrisperkins7331Ай бұрын
@@jordiking2481 As they are underground, if the vents are above he water line then all the effluent stays in the tank. However in the west most of the storm water finishes up in the sewer system, which is much worse.

Horrible to see. Can‘t imagine the pain for all people, who live there. How is the status for Vang Vieng and infrastructure? We planned a trip in 3 weeks. I know from other areas that people welcome tourists, that bring money with their stay, even in situations like this. Is it still possible to support that way or should we rebook to another location? We don‘t want to risk us or anyone else with going in an area with such a damage, for selfish vacation reasons, but still think about if we should go? Any thoughts?
