Thank you John for showing us the ground zero of disaster. While enlightening, we can all be sad by what we see. Our hearts cry... they always have reason to cry.

Thanks for that, gives a real picture of how devastating the floods have been here. And what a horror show the aftermath is.

Thanks for this. I am very sorry for the trouble this causes you and everyone else in the are. I hope the clean-up won´t be too smelly Perhaps you can help me out with some advice here. I planned to visit Chiang Mai on Saturday but now am uncertain if that is the right thing to do. Shoud I go - and bring some (small) business to Hotel & Restaurants , or should I stay away in order not to be in the way of the clean up / use ressources others need ? What do you think, mate? What does the old town look like? Was it flooded, too? Is it at all possible to get in from the airport? Best wishes!!

Old Town is ok & still lots of things to do & places to go away from the floods

I am so lucky. I moved from Chiang Mai to Lamphun two years ago. My old house was flooded. Visited a friend yesterday who was lucky too. He is in the flood zone but his land was elevated. Water came up to his doorstep and then receded. But the area smelled really bad.

How is Khao Soi Maesai? It was my favorite Khao Soi restaurant.

My partner's business beside the Night Bazaar is full of mud but for over 48 of the last 72 hours there has been no water to even start the cleaning. And where is the Thai Army in all of this? Nowhere to be seen, giving no help, probably plotting their next coup. Chiang Mai is going to be sorely tested in trying to return to normality, the government in BKK has not issued one statement or lifted a finger. The previous flood a week prior to this was bad but nothing like this. And the government compensation to households was a pitiful 9000 bath per house. So the poor people who did nothing to deserve this now struggle almost alone. Shameful Thailand.
