Floor wrote this about her mother who has suffered pain from a form of arthritis all of Floor's life. And Emma picked this song because her mother had breast cancer, but is now cancer free. That is the connection with this song. I have seen one video where Floor sang it live and she barely made it through it. The studio version is really good. What a beautiful song and Emma did it justice. I am so glad you are doing the other singers. Thanks for the tears and the smile my friend............ :-)

It’s so beautiful to watch a metal/rock fan is feeling so emotional hearing this song, sang by the rough diamond Emma. Then you realise that it is not about music genres, but about the emotion and effort that is put into a song!

Floor was always a good singer. Put on After Forever's first album, Prison of Desire, then put on the second, Decipher. These albums were already out by the time I got into underground music and discovered her. I've been lucky enough to know about her for about 15 years now. She was good on Prison, but you could already sense that she was going to be great in just how much she improved on Decipher (which I still consider one of the greatest symphonic metal albums to this day) a mere year later. The earliest live performances you can find on youtube shows that she never was a studio princess. She was always the real deal. She has that rare raw innate talent, tempered with education, and a true professional desire to improve. And it shows. Fast Forward a few years and albums later to 2009 when she and AF were at their peak with the self titled album. So many great songs! Where could this band go next? Nowhere, because as it turns out that album was their swan song and with a letter on their website they disappeared overnight. Floor made her own band, ReVamp shortly after, and while it was great to be able to hear her again, aside from a couple stand outs, RV was no AF. Then in 2011 came the news. The flame burnt out and Floor couldn't go on singing anymore. Mind you, this is only months after Roy Khan announced his departure from the spotlight. Two legends gone overnight. Two shots directly into the heart, just in case the first one didn't kill you. Her announcement is still on youtube. Look up 'Floor burn out message'. Even though she tried to spin it positively, we all heard it: "Things are not going as fast as I'm hoping." I honestly grieved and moved on. And then, suddenly 2 years later, news! Floor was back on stage! My heart beat picked up. And then, terrible news. It was with fucking Nightwish. A band that I tried so so so many times to like. I just don't like Tarja. Sorry, not sorry. I like her for about 10 or 15 minutes, but then the voice just starts to grate on me. Same thing with Sabina from Edenbridge. Obvious talent, but just not for me. Earlier, I heard NW booted Tarja for another singer and tried them yet again only to come back massively disappointed yet again. I honestly just wrote them off as a massively overrated, cheesy power metal band with one or two great songs (I honestly have always LOVED Ghost Love Score). I never entertained the thought that they would be great together. I thought it was a great shame, because NW the band could never live up to Floor's talents. Some time went on. It must have been 2 years or so. Somehow I came across the GLS Wacken video. I had to watch it because I loved GLS and Floor, and with that famous final note I knew something had changed. That song sounded so much better than the studio version I already loved. Not only because Floor put her own unique twists on it, but it seemed like there was something in the air that night. But it wasn't just 'something', it was the whole band because they are MUCH better live than studio. I came to realize this as I began listening to all the other songs from that concert and fell in love with each and every one. That Showtime, Storytime CD is the greatest live album I own, by far. To this day, I don't find myself with any desire to go back and listen to old NW songs without Floor but I can sure as hell say they sound better live and they sound A HELL of a lot better with Floor. And man is she back with a vengeance, like the phoenix, better and more fiery than ever. She was great before, don't get me wrong, but you could tell that she always had certain reservations or insecurities holding her back. You could see it on her face and body language. Endless Forms is their best, in my opinion, and I BARELY got tickets and got to see them and her live for the first time in May 12, 2015 after working 12 hours. I'm anxious to see what comes out next year. I'm tempering my expectations though, because I STILL don't think NW can fully complement Floor (I mean honestly, AF and RV couldn't either), but I would be very happy to be wrong. NW picked her up and helped her fly again, so I always have to give them that no matter what. What was a GREAT singer before is now in my opinion LEGENDARY, partly because of NW. Not sure if anyone will read this, but when you asked what Floor had went through, it made me think of her burnout and my story with her. I remember I watched an interview where she talked about it, about how even though her body wouldn't respond, her passion never left. She said something like "I was born to do this" and holy shit, truer words were never spoken.

You have written great things!!!! I fill the same! The only thing that for me is different is the part you say that NW can fully complement Floor. Tuomas is writing extraordinary music all these years and all the other guys are just best of the best! NW music is like o roller coast that leads you to emotional peaks! On these music lines is where Floor steps and becomes Legendary and make us cry in every song! It's like holding a key that has unlock secret doors on older NW songs. As I use to say NW music is not from this earth, it's from the moon. Then Floor came and launch it to the sun!

Completely agree. I actually did like the Nightwish albums Oceanborn and Wishmaster a lot, despite Tarja her singing rubbing me the wrong way sometimes. For me it was her accent mostly. I went to two Nightwish concerts in 2019 and during one of them one of my friends remarked during the intro of Elvenpath that Tarja had never really been able to properly pronounce the word "nightwolves" and I agreed, it had always sounded a bit ridiculous to the both of us on the album. I consider myself very lucky to have tickets to one of the concerts of Floor her solo tour that she's doing in the Netherlands at the beginning of 2020, and also the Nightwish concert in the Ziggo Dome later that year.

Search Denise Hofs for the English translations as subtitles of all the episodes. She did a great job of translating the comments before and after each song where the artist explained what song they would do and why. There are also comments after each song. The very first episode only Henk and Tim had any idea of who Floor was. Her first song came as a major surprise that a metal singer could do Vilja Lied like she did it.

People think of Floor as the singer of Nightwish, but she has been a (great) songwriter for many years. If you doubt it, check out After Forever - Eccentric Live at Pinkpop Festival (2004) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4S4ZoenfKaZq9k Cheers!
