Omg guys. This is a cultural asset. Everyone in the world should know that. Sung so often by so many different artists. Also very old. A real classic. I am honestly shocked that you don't know this. Every Christmas in Finland they have a Metal Christmas concert. Floor has sung Ave Maria with Marco several times. This one is done with help from Tommy Johansson in Sabaton and one can wonder if it’s her husband (also from Sabaton) that plays the drums.

This song is usually sung at Christmas time, and usually in Latin. Very well known song, lol. Floor has sung this a few times, actually, with Marko from Nightwish. Pavarotti has also done some amazing covers of it, check it out :) Floor isn't religious, but she did release this just in time for Christmas for her fans as a special gift to us.

Ave Maria is originally written and composed in the year 1825 by the German composer Franz Schubert. The song is based on Walter Scott's poem Lady of the Lake. The German translation is by Adam Storck. This poem revolves around a girl, Ellen Douglas, the Lady of the Lake ("Fürstin des Sees", or "princess of the lake"). She hides with her father in a cave to escape the king's revenge on clan leader Roderick Dhu. This clan chief was banished and had given her a hiding place. In her despair the girl prays to Maria and asks for help. The clan leader Roderick doesn't hear her because he is preparing a war with his clan higher up the mountain. This an aria written by Schubert (old composer) and IT is NO christmas song, it is an aria to honor Maria (mary for you, but officially it is Maria) Katholics honor maria just like we honor God and christ. She is the symbol of motherhood and the sacravises they make for their child. In Europe this is a religion song, not a christmas song. weird americans :D Using this for mobies and commercials. Shame on you. it is a catholic aria, very deep. For Europeans your knowledge about culture seems so low. sorry, don'rt mean that harsh.
