NorthStar Gymnastics Invitational provides a conducive platform for budding gymnasts to engage in friendly competition with their peers while showcasing their skills to the gymnastics community. NorthStar Gymnastics also hope to play a part in promoting the growth of the sport in Asia with an annual NorthStar Gymnastics meet. In 2019 we welcomed over 300 gymnasts from more than 20 regional teams to this 2nd Invitational. After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, the NorthStar Gymnastics Invitational is back this year.
In artistic gymnastics, the floor exercise is a discipline in which gymnasts perform acrobatic and dance elements on a padded surface. The performance is usually set to music and lasts between 60 and 70 seconds.
During the floor exercise, gymnasts demonstrate their strength, flexibility, and control as they perform a series of acrobatic elements, including tumbling passes, leaps, and turns. They also incorporate dance elements, such as leaps, hops, and pirouettes, to add grace and fluidity to their performance.
The floor exercise is performed on a square mat that is usually about 40 feet by 40 feet. The mat is padded to provide a safe and cushioned surface for the gymnasts to land on. The gymnasts are judged on their execution, difficulty, and artistic impression of their routine.
The floor exercise is a popular event in artistic gymnastics, and it is often used to showcase a gymnast's skills and personality. It requires a combination of physical ability and artistic expression, and it is a popular event for both men and women in the sport.
