Floor Plan Changes - How, Why and the exact $$$ it cost | McDonald Jones Homes Almeria Two 2020

We made 2 changes to our new home floor plan - Let me explain why and share the cost.
During the initial stages of our first home build, we could not find the "perfect" floor plan at the right price. The Almeria Two by McDonald Jones Homes ticked many of our wish list boxes but to ensure it perfectly fit all our needs, we made a few adjustments to the initial design.
I will explain the motivation behind these changes, the pros and cons and even share the budget with you.
We have been living in the home now for a few weeks and LOVE the end result. These changes have made a huge impact on the usability of the space and the value of the home for re-sale.
If you're nervous about making changes to your design, don't be. These are some of the best decisions we made during the process and the cost associated with them was well worth the overall impact made.

Hi Courtney, as a new home consultant, are you able to post a video on how to do the calculations on FSR on a white board and help new up and coming New homes sales consultants work out the calculations needed when you have clients in front of you. There is another channel that nearly got there but wasn't that clear. It will help a lot of us new consultants with simple calculations needed to have a good presentation. 😊

Hiya! I love the changes you made in the master bathroom! Double sinks and toilet behind the door! What are the bulkheads you were talking about? Also the sliding door to games room! Why did you go 1 storey not 2 ? But love the outside place too!

Do you happen to have the dimensions of the space between the centre of the toilet bowl to the shower screen. My toilet is oriented 90degrees so it's positioned on the external wall and hence that space is 70cm. wonder how much space you've got.

What made you go with a volume builder over a more custom higher quality builder? Was it down to cost? I just can’t imagine working with the likes of Metricon or *insert other big builder here* ever again

Hey Virginia, Thank you for the great question 😄 Project builders have a much larger buying power, so they get the same materials for less (like concrete, bricks, timber and steel). Their process is usually much faster, smoother and cheaper too. Plus they get all the best tradies cause they get consistent work from them (just to name a few reasons). Not all project builders are the same but McDonald Jones Homes is #1 in NSW and really cared about me as a client; which is why I am now so passionate about sharing my journey 🏠❤️
