The small Norwegian town of Florø is located on the rugged coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Storms often rage here, strong winds blow, and clouds lie in a dense curtain in the sky.
By the way, Florø is the westernmost city of Norway and the entire Scandinavian Peninsula. The city is located on an island. And with the rest of Norway, it is connected by the only road number 5 (Rv5).
The basis for the construction of the city of Florø was the rich herring fishery. By the way, three herrings are also depicted on the coat of arms of the city. Fishing and shipbuilding are still an important part of the economy. And after the discovery of oil in the North Sea in the 1960s, Florø was used as a supply base for the oil industry.
We were lucky to walk around this cozy town on a sunny June day. And probably the first thing that caught our eye was a cubic building made of dark glass. It turned out that this station is both sea and bus at the same time. Very unusual and practical for an area with such geography!
Also right in the city center, there are sea cages and a salmon processing plant from farms, which are numerous on the west coast of Norway.
The island on which the central part of the city is located is about 2 by 3 km. The airport is located on the same island. So we had to leave the drone at home to rest, but we climbed up the hill behind the church to traditionally look at the city from above!
And of course, I would also like to admire the nature of the Kinn region. The mighty, sheer mountains are always in sight and provide a picturesque backdrop for the colorful wooden houses of Florø. And many islands are home to birds and marine life. When traveling around the city of Florø, the feeling that you are at the end of the world does not leave.
In this video, we invite you to spend one sunny June day in Florø with us. And also admire the views of this wonderful sea town from a hill in the city center!
We really hope you enjoy the video! We tried our best! Feel free to ask your questions and write wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them!;)
