Florante Aguilar Performs Maala-ala Mo Kaya in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte

In December of 2008, Celestino Aniel, Romeo Bergunio and I perform in a fishing village in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
We took turns singing with the locals (as highlighted in the Harana movie). It was an unforgettable night of singing, laughter and reminiscing.
Here I opened the evening with a solo of Constancio de Guzman’s classic Maala-ala Mo Kaya. Prior to this year (2023), these footage remained in my hard drives for over ten years and have never been seen, myself included.
In celebration of Harana the movie's 10th anniversary since it premiered internationally, we are releasing footage of complete songs which I feel are just as important as the ones included in the final version of the movie.
Many thanks to director Benito Bautista, cinematographer Peggy Peralta, and the whole film crew for wonderfully capturing these moments. And the best partner I could ever ask for, producer Fides Enriquez for making it all happen.

Grabe, sa sobrang dami ng mga nagyayare sa mundo, nakakalimutan natin paano tayo nagsimula sa pagiging payak at tahimik noong bata pa tayo at espesyal doon ay mga lolo at lola natin ang nagpaparamdam nito sa atin. Hindi ko maintindihan bakit ganitong musika naririnig ko noon tuwing nasa bahay kami ng lola at lolo ko sa probinsiya ni hindi ko man lang nagustuhan ang ganitong musika noon. Pero nakikinig kami nito sama sama pagkatapos maghapunan. Madilim na kapaligiran, isang gasera sa lamesita sa tabi ng radyo na may flashlight. Katabi ko kapatid ko at pinsan ko. Kasama namin si lola, iniisip ko bakit tulala si lola pag di niya sinasabayan yung harana ng lolo ko. Ngayon ko lang naintindihan na naaalala pala nila yung mga pinagdaanan nila noon. Ngayong nagtatrabaho na ko sa maynila, bente-singko anyos, nasanay ako na mabilisan lahat. Maingay at magulo. Pero nung napanood ko to naindihan ko kung bakit gustung gusto ito ng matatanda noon, bukod kasi sa alaalala nila, nabibigyan sila ng kapatanatagn ng loob sa mga ganitong tugtugin. Kung maibabalik ko pa sana yung panahon gusto ko bumalik ng probinsya at makasama lolo at lola ko. MAkikinig lang ako nito habang nagpapaantok. Nakakamiss yung kapayapaan na binigay nila sa akin noon. Tulungan niyo ako, ilapit natin ito sa KMJS. Sobrang gandang istorya nito
