Greetings! Your video about shopping for leather products in Florence is entertaining and informative. My wife and I will be looking at leather items when we are in Florence for three nights next June as part of a dream month-long trip to Italy. Actually, she will be focused more on the gold and jewelry stores, but I'll be looking at backpacks and such. I was interested to hear from you that it is a good idea to bargain on prices, as I've heard different views on that. My question is whether the bargaining applies only to the street vendors or also applies to the branded stores. It seems like the street vendors will come down on their prices but one can't be sure that they are selling authentic Italian-made goods.

Hi Mark and thank you for your feedback. Yes, correct regarding the ‘haggling’ of prices - it is at the street stalls/markets only. Exactly, the fact that haggling/bargaining the price is an expectation sort of tells you that the authenticity is a ‘little questionable’. Cheers.

Thank you for your feedback - yes, check out both leather locations. Ah, gold & jewellery- happens to be next episode. You can’t go past the Ponte Vecchio for volume and quality of items - a bit pricey. I found a great private shop very close to the ‘old bridge’ too - so check out the new episode. But in San Lorenzo market the leather's products are mostly Chinese. Most of them are made in the Chinese factories of Campi and Prato

I know that American are happy to buy low price (and low quality) products just because they buy them in Florence, but that's a disaster for the real traditional handcraft production, gradually destroyed by tourism and this kind of activities.

Great video! Florence is the mostt beautiful city in the world. The only other place that is just as beautiful is Athens with the MOST BEAUTIFUL and MAJESTIC sight - the Parthenon, especially at sunset when the exquisite white marble turns golden. I’m so sad. I bought a leather belt and thought was real leather. I got it for 1 euro. I went to another place to get it cut because I realized it was too long. The other place told me it was fake and with card board. They cut it and you see the cardboard. They sold me one that was pure leather and $25 euro. They cut it and it was pure

Italian leather is a scam, the leather is imported from Northern Nigeria ! The fashion houses in ITALY can no longer say Italian leather because of litigation, so genuine leather was adopted. God forbid they say Nigerian leather !

The "leather" in the San Lorenzo market is garbage! It comes from china (of course!) and Taiwan. I purchased some bags there and they all fell apart after a few months of use! It's NOT leather at all, but compressed materials to "look" like leather. However, my purchases from THE LEATHER SCHOOL, part of th Santa Croce Basilica complex, are the FINEST and GENUINE leather in ALL of Florence, and probably all of Italy. The products are handmade and you can see the craftsmen making them there. My purchases that are over 40 years old still look like new, still smell like leather, and soft as buttter! Save your money for The Leather School!! 🙂🌞
